Since its establishment in 1995, the SPF team has successfully closed over 700 financing transactions globally, totalling more than USD 60 billion. The SPF team also provides thought leadership to internal and government stakeholders on major critical minerals, energy transition, and trade-enabling infrastructure projects.\nProject Finance is a specialized field of finance where financing decisions are based on project-specific cash flows and assets. It is widely used across industries such as energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure and digital infrastructure. EDC’s project finance counterparties include top-tier international sponsors, exporters, law firms and global project finance and investment banks.\nProject Finance Associate Program (PFAP):\nThe Associate and Senior Associate roles provide the opportunity to develop and apply project-finance expertise through hands-on involvement in financial modelling and sensitivity analysis, credit structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, and interactions with clients, sponsors, advisors and co-financiers.\nAssociates will participate in EDC’s Project Finance Associate Program (PFAP), which combines structured learning, mentorship by senior team members, regular feedback and hands-on transaction experience in high-impact projects. The program develops project-finance capabilities in areas such as financial modelling and sensitivity analysis, credit structuring, due diligence, legal documentation, and engagement with clients, sponsors, advisors and co-financiers.\nParticipation in the program will be tailored to each individual’s role, experience and development needs.\nWhat you will be doing:\nResearch, Financial Analysis & Modeling:\nConducting industry and sector research in relevant industries or regions\nConducting financial analysis; manipulating and constructing detailed cash flow models\nBenchmarking model assumptions through industry research and competitive analysis of comparable projects\nTransaction Execution:\nSupporting due diligence and analyzing complex project finance loan transactions as a member of a deal team\nPreparing portions of the credit package for internal approval\nParticipating in the negotiation of transaction documentation with legal counsel and counterparties\nClient Engagement & Portfolio Management:\nEngaging professionally with internal and external stakeholders during transaction execution\nTracking market developments and opportunities, supporting the preparation of financing proposals, conducting market scanning exercises to identify market insights and trends\nAssisting in managing the portfolio throughout the life of transactions\nSkills & Competencies:\nTechnical Skills:\nProficiency in financial modeling and spreadsheet applications\nAbility to source and manipulate data from Bloomberg and Capital IQ\nKnowledge of credit and capital markets\nSectoral & Business Knowledge:\nUnderstanding of energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure or digital infrastructure sectors\nFamiliarity with Canadian and/or international business and banking practices\nInterpersonal Skills:\nStrong team player with leadership qualities\nExcellent communication skills in English (written, verbal, presentation)\nStrong negotiation, diplomacy, and persuasion abilities\nWhat we are looking for:\nMBA graduate/Master’s degree with a focus on finance, international business, or a related field, or equivalent education and related work experience\nMinimum of 2 years (Associate, Underwriter 16), 5 years (Associate, Underwriter 17), or 7 years (Senior Associate, Underwriter 18) of relevant experience, including direct experience executing project finance transactions, or closely comparable experience in structured finance or investment banking\nRelevant experience may include project finance, investment banking or in a finance role within a capital-intensive industry suitable to project financing, such as energy, renewables, mining/critical minerals, transportation infrastructure or digital infrastructure.
