This role will focus on modernizing test automation, integrating AI into quality assurance practices, and improving software reliability, delivery speed, and operational performance across the SDLC. The incumbent will design and implement secure, enterprise-grade testing solutions, establish best practices for AI-assisted quality engineering, and support the adoption of emerging capabilities that enhance how software is validated, tested, monitored, and supported. As EDC's AI journey matures, the role will contribute to the evolution of increasingly intelligent and automated quality processes while ensuring strong governance, security, and human oversight. To implement strategic technology vision by building an effective platform that supports the needs of EDC now and in the future. This role is accountable for the hands-on coding, design, build, support, and operations of the DPDA group.\nWhat this role is and is not: This is not a traditional manual testing role. Success in this position requires a blend of quality engineering expertise, test automation development, and collaboration with delivery teams to embed quality throughout the software lifecycle. Candidates looking exclusively for manual testing or test coordination responsibilities may find the role unsuitable.\nWhat you will be doing:\nDesign, execute, and maintain comprehensive test suites, ensuring coverage of functional, integration, end-to-end, and customer-centric scenarios.\nDesign, build, and maintain scalable test automation solutions using Python and Robot Framework.\nDevelop reusable automation libraries, frameworks, and testing components.\nAutomate testing across APIs, web applications, integrations, backend services, and end-to-end workflows.\nIntegrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and establish effective quality gates.\nDefine and execute automation strategies based on risk, business value, and maintainability.\nDrive continuous improvement of automation reliability, coverage, performance, and execution speed.\nLead quality engineering practices across an AI-enabled and Agentic SDLC.\nLeverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design, automation development, defect analysis, and reporting.\nValidate AI-generated test cases, automation code, and recommendations before production use.\nDevelop testing approaches for AI-powered applications, agents, and autonomous workflows.\nCollaborate with architects, developers, product teams, and business stakeholders to build quality into the SDLC from the start.\nProvide technical leadership, mentorship, and standards for automation, quality engineering, and AI-assisted testing practices.\nWhat we are looking for:\nBachelor’s degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.\n8+ years of hands-on experience in Test Automation, SDET, Quality Engineering, or Software Development delivering enterprise-scale solutions, including 2+ years of experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and modern AI-enabled SDLC practices.\nWhat will make you stand out:\nKnowledge of cloud platforms. \nExperience integrating intelligent automation into Quality Engineering and CI/CD workflows.\nEligibility:\nEDC is committed to Fair Employment Practices and preference will be given to a candidate who is able to work legally in Canada at the time of application (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).
