Our Head office is located in Brampton, Ontario.\nRole Summary\nThe Controller oversees all financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance for the Export Packers Group of Companies. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial results, manages cash flow and internal controls, and supports strategic decision-making through strong financial insight. The Controller partners closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, implement process improvements, and uphold financial discipline across the organization.\nResponsibilities\nFinancial Reporting & Compliance\nEnsure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with ASPE\nLead external reporting for the Export Packers Group of Companies, including consolidation processes\nProvide monthly balance sheet overview and variance analysis, driving increased visibility across the Finance organization\nCoordinate and manage external audits for year-end, commodity taxes, banking, and government requirements\nPrepare materials for and oversee annual audits, liaising with external auditors, and senior management\nReview and analyze monthly and annual tax filings\nEnsure integrity of financial data in compliance with GAAP/ASPE and internal policies, procedures, and controls\nAccounting Operations & Process Management\nProvide day-to-day support to the Accounting and Reporting, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable teams\nOversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes\nAdminister the general ledger and ensure balance sheet reconciliations are performed to standards in compliance with internal policy\nAdminister, approve, and process travel expenses through SAP Concur\nManage intercompany transaction analysis and account reconciliations\nEstablish and maintain accounting policies and procedures, including reviewing complex accounting areas and approving ERP changes impacting financial reporting\nLead continuous improvement and change management initiatives that elevate Finance's impact across the organization\nServe as a member of the ERP implementation core team\nProactively provide recommendations to management with a focus on standardizing processes and implementing efficiencies\nTreasury & Cash Management\nManage cash operations, including administration of corporate banking and interaction with bank personnel\nPrepare and analyze actual monthly free cash flow and cash reporting for key stakeholders\nLead forecasting and long-range planning of cash flow, driving increases in net- working capital and maintaining robust forecasting models tied to P&L assumptions\nSupport and guide Treasury functions through cash forecasting and reporting\nOversee FX reporting of multiple currencies, forward contract analysis, and derivative analysis\nManage transfer pricing activities\nStrategic Partnership & Business Advisory\nSupport the CFO and VP Finance in strategic initiatives\nPartner with cross-functional teams including FP&A and Sales to provide financial insight and decision support\nServe as a connector between Finance and other departments, fostering a culture of partnership and shared accountability\nAct as business lead and key advisor on accounting implications of business decisions such as integration of acquired subsidiaries, divestitures, financial system implementations/enhancements, and new accounting standards\nInfluence and shape business outcomes by proactively identifying opportunities and risks, and advising senior leadership\nTeam Management & Talent Development\nLead, coach, and develop Finance team members to achieve key deliverables\nSupport and guide team on career goals and ensure ongoing enhancement of capabilities, talent sustainability, and succession planning\nSet clear goals and performance expectations, promoting a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance\nFoster an inspiring and positive team environment\nMentor and support peers across Finance, promoting consistency, personal development, innovation, and excellence in financial practices\nRisk Management & Internal Controls\nEstablish, implement, monitor, strengthen, and maintain an effective internal control environment over financial reporting and back office services\nMaintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance\nIdentify areas of financial risk and implement mitigation strategies\nEnsure key controls and proper documentation of key processes are in place\nQualifications/Skills\nMinimum 10 years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, including leadership roles within Controllership or General Accounting functions.\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.\nCPA designation required.\nStrong technical expertise in US GAAP and ASPE reporting standards.\nExperience managing complex financial operations, including acquisitions, integrations, and divestitures.\nPrior experience with a Big Four accounting firm at the Manager level or higher, or equivalent public accounting experience.\nThis position is based in a professional office setting, with work primarily performed at a desk using a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment.\nBenefits\nHybrid -
