The Director is accountable for the successful delivery of Extendicare's multi-site LTC redevelopment program, which spans new-build and redeveloped homes at various stages from pre-construction through active construction. The program is currently concentrated in Ontario, with expansion into additional provinces anticipated.\nLeading a team of Project Managers, you will be the principal construction representative with Construction Managers/General Contractors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, Consultants, and other stakeholders. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will set the program's delivery strategy and governance, while staying in the detail, reviewing budgets, resolving risk, and stepping in when a project needs it.\nThis role will be based at our head office in Markham Ontario, Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment. Regular travel is required for this role.\nResponsibilities:\nLead a multi-project LTC redevelopment program from pre-construction through occupancy and closeout \nSet delivery strategy, standards, and governance frameworks across the program \nEstablish program controls and KPIs, and intervene proactively when schedule, budget, quality, or operational risk drifts off track \nLead a team of Project Managers, each responsible for individual redevelopment projects \nReview and approve execution plans, schedules, procurement strategies, budgets, and change management processes \nRun regular project reviews, and drive corrective action where performance issues surface \nEnsure compliance with building codes, LTC design standards, health and safety regulations, and Ministry requirements \nTake on direct project responsibility, or co-lead delivery, on select large-scale or complex projects alongside the assigned Project Manager as required \nTravel regularly to project sites across the portfolio; regular, on-site attendance is a core expectation of this role \nOwn project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial reporting \nOversee contract administration, progress payments, contingencies, claims, and change orders \nIdentify cost optimization and value engineering opportunities \nBring financial analysis and recommendations to executive leadership \nBuild and maintain the program's risk management framework across construction, operational, financial, regulatory, and schedule risk \nLead issue resolution and escalation on critical project challenges \nReport project status - schedule, budget, procurement, risk, health and safety - to Senior Leadership and Development Partners \nLead program governance meetings, including bi-weekly construction update meetings to Senior Leadership and Development Partners \nAct as the primary point of contact between internal leadership, LTC operations, consultants, and contractors \nRepresent Extendicare in community engagement activities as required \nMentor and develop your Project Managers and project support staff \nSet performance objectives and hold the team to them \nSupport succession planning and workforce development \nRequirements: \nBachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field; P.Eng., PMP., CET., or similar designation is an asset \n12+ years of progressive construction project delivery experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role on large-scale healthcare, institutional or long-term care projects, and/or high-rise residential projects \nTrack record managing new build construction projects valued at $100M+ \nExperience overseeing Consultants, Construction Managers / General Contractors, and owner-side project management teams \nFamiliarity with Ontario's healthcare and LTC redevelopment landscape is an asset \nExperience delivering projects through various procurement models including CCDC5B Construction Management and CCDC2 Stipulated Sum construction contracts. \nA combination of owner-side and contractor experience is an asset. \nExtensive knowledge of construction management principles and practices. \nAdvanced budgeting, financial management, and forecast reporting skills. \nExpertise in risk identification, mitigation, and issue resolution. \nStrong understanding of project scheduling and critical path management. \nThorough knowledge of contract administration and procurement practices. \nExcellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities. \nStrong communication, presentation, and executive reporting skills. \nAbility to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. \nProficiency with project management and reporting software. \nWhat Extendicare has to offer:\nAt Extendicare, we believe that working as a team creates an environment that allows us to reach our potential.
