As a CBS professional, you will work across teams to provide the financial discipline, operational support, and governance that enable EY to deliver\nexceptional client service and support sustainable growth.\nThe opportunity\nEY Malaysia is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Supervising Associate to manage and coordinate financial accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and compliance activities within CBS Finance.\nThe role is responsible for delivering accurate and timely finance outputs, independently resolving accounting matters, maintaining robust documentation, and supporting effective financial controls and statutory requirements. You will work closely with finance colleagues, business stakeholders, and external service providers, while providing day-to-day guidance to junior team members where required.\nYour key responsibilities\nFinancial Accounting & Period-End Reporting\nCoordinate recurring accounting activities, including the preparation, review, and posting of journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and other adjustments.\nManage assigned month-end and year-end closing activities to support complete, accurate, and timely financial reporting.\nPrepare and review balance sheet schedules, supporting analyses, and other financial records.\nReview account balances, investigate variances, and drive the resolution of reconciling or outstanding items.\nPerform general ledger reviews and coordinate account clean-up activities, escalating material issues where appropriate.\nReconciliations, Receivables & Cash Flow\nPrepare and review bank and account reconciliations and ensure identified differences are resolved promptly.\nSupport cash flow forecasting and monitor working capital information for completeness and accuracy.\nReview accounts receivable ageing and coordinate follow-up on outstanding balances with relevant stakeholders.\nWork with internal teams on billing, collection, credit control, and related reporting activities.\nTax, Statutory & Audit Support\nPrepare and review information, schedules, and working papers for indirect tax, corporate tax, and other statutory requirements.\nCoordinate periodic tax estimates, reconciliations, submissions, and related compliance activities.\nPrepare and review supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.\nAct as a key point of contact for auditors, tax advisers, company secretarial providers, and other external parties on assigned matters.\nStakeholder Management & Service Delivery\nPartner with finance colleagues and business stakeholders to obtain information, resolve queries, and complete deliverables within agreed timelines.\nProvide clear and practical guidance on financial reporting and accounting matters within the scope of the role.\nMaintain complete and organised records to support governance, controls, audit readiness, and knowledge continuity.\nCommunicate risks, delays, and material issues promptly, with recommended actions for resolution.\nContinuous Improvement & Team Collaboration\nIdentify and implement opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of finance processes.\nContribute to process standardisation, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives within CBS Finance.\nProvide day-to-day guidance and quality review support to junior team members where required.\nWork collaboratively across teams and support other finance activities and ad hoc requirements when needed.\nSkills and attributes for success\nStrong technical understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial controls, and period-end reporting.\nHigh attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accurate, high-quality work.\nAbility to independently organise work, manage competing priorities, and meet recurring deadlines.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate variances and drive issues to resolution.\nClear communication and stakeholder-management skills, including confidence working with colleagues and external advisers at different levels.\nProactive, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership while contributing positively to a team.\nTo qualify for the role, you must have\nA bachelor's degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\nA minimum of four years of relevant experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, general ledger, record-to-report, or finance operations.\nHands-on experience in month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and the resolution of accounting variances.\nExperience supporting statutory compliance, tax, or internal and external audit requirements.\nDemonstrated ability to independently manage accounting and reporting deliverables with limited supervision.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and familiarity with enterprise finance or accounting systems.\nIdeally, you'll also have\nExperience in a shared services, corporate finance, or professional services environment.\nExperience coordinating work, reviewing outputs, or providing guidance to junior team members.\nExposure to accounts receivable, working capital, cash flow forecasting, tax submissions, or statutory reporting.\nExperience working with cross-functional teams and external professional advisers.\nA recognised professional accounting qualification or progress towards one.\nWhat we look for\nWe are looking for an experienced finance professional who is dependable, organised, and committed to delivering accurate financial information.
