Join EY and help to build a better working world.\nThe opportunity\nAs an Assistant Director - Data Engineering & Analytics Platforms, you’ll play a role in shaping enterprise data, analytics and AI capabilities. You’ll partner with business leaders, architects and engineering teams to establish technical direction, deliver modern data platforms and develop solutions that create measurable business value.\nYou’ll help lead the design and delivery of advanced data and AI solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, cloud platforms and emerging AI technologies. You’ll guide architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, remove delivery barriers and establish practices that support secure, scalable and high-performing solutions.\nYou’ll also help advance the organization’s adoption of generative AI, intelligent agents and AI-powered analytics. Working with stakeholders, delivery teams and technical leaders, you’ll influence the evolution of AI agent architecture, enterprise data platforms and next-generation analytics capabilities.\nYour key responsibilities\nProvide technical leadership for enterprise data, analytics and AI platform initiatives, from requirements and solution design through deployment and production support.\nGuide architecture and solution-design decisions to ensure solutions meet business, security, scalability, quality and operational requirements.\nLead technical workstreams and multidisciplinary teams through design, development, testing, deployment and ongoing support.\nReview technical designs, data pipelines, platform integrations and analytics solutions for reliability, scalability, maintainability and performance.\nManage technical risks, dependencies, competing priorities and delivery timelines while maintaining appropriate governance and quality controls.\nIdentify and remove technical and delivery barriers, helping teams resolve complex issues.\nCoach and mentor team members, strengthen technical capabilities and promote knowledge sharing and consistent engineering practices.\nCommunicate technical risks, options and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nLead or support onshore and offshore transitions, including readiness assessments, knowledge transfer, documentation, handoffs and post-transition stabilization.\nEstablish clear ownership, communication channels, escalation processes and quality expectations across geographically distributed teams.\nSkills and attributes for success\nStrong technical leadership skills, with the ability to influence direction and drive delivery across multiple teams.\nDeep understanding of modern data engineering, analytics and cloud-platform concepts.\nAbility to balance strategic thinking with practical, hands-on technical leadership.\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills in complex technical environments.\nAbility to review technical solutions, identify risks and recommend practical improvements.\nProven ability to coach and mentor technical professionals.\nStrong stakeholder-management and communication skills.\nAbility to manage ambiguity, competing priorities and organizational change.\nCollaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across functions, business areas, geographies and time zones.\nTo qualify for the role, you must have\nA bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technology discipline, such as Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science or Information Technology.\n8 to 12 years of progressive professional experience in data engineering, data platforms, analytics engineering or a related technology-delivery field.\nDemonstrated experience providing technical leadership to development teams and guiding architecture and solution-design decisions.\nHands-on experience designing, developing or delivering enterprise data and analytics solutions using Azure Databricks or Microsoft Fabric. Experience with at least one of these platforms is required.\nStrong knowledge of data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, integration, modelling, testing, monitoring and production support.\nExperience reviewing technical designs, platform integrations, data pipelines and analytics solutions.\nExperience managing technical risks, dependencies, governance requirements, competing priorities and delivery timelines.\nExperience leading technical workstreams or multidisciplinary teams through requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and production support.\nExperience communicating technical concepts, risks and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExperience leading or supporting onshore and offshore delivery models, knowledge-transfer activities and operational handoffs.\nIdeally, you’ll also have\nExperience with Azure AI Foundry.\nExperience designing, developing or supporting AI and data agents using Databricks Genie, Microsoft Fabric Data Agents or comparable agent-based technologies.\nExperience delivering generative AI, conversational analytics, natural-language data experiences or AI-enabled business insights in an enterprise environment.\nRelevant Microsoft Azure, Databricks or Microsoft Fabric certifications.\nWhat we offer you\nAt EY, we harness our collective strength to empower you to shape your future with confidence through professional growth, personal fulfillment and an inclusive culture. The base salary range for this job is: \nNew York City, Boston, and Washington DC Metro Areas, Washington State, and Southern California offices - $149,300 to $253,900\nBay Area California offices - $155,600 to $264,400\nAll other offices locations in the US, including Sacramento - $124,400 to $232,700 \n\nIndividual salaries within these ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
