As part of our Digital Factory team, you’ll work at the intersection of technology and innovation, helping to deliver cutting-edge solutions that transform businesses globally.\nThis is your opportunity to take on a leadership-oriented technical role, guiding backend engineering practices while remaining hands-on in building secure, scalable, and reliable services that power EY’s digital platforms.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a Assistant Director - Backend Engineer, you will:\nLead the design and development of APIs, data access layers, and integrations.\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making.\nCollaborate with Product, Architecture, Frontend, and Data teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\nDrive best practices in coding, security, and observability across the team.\nWhat We’re Looking For\nAgility and Growth Mindset: Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.\nTechnical Leadership: Experience guiding teams and influencing architecture decisions.\nCollaboration and Inclusivity: Building trust and fostering diverse perspectives.\nQualifications\n9+ years of professional experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.\nExpertise in building backend services and APIs using .NET/C# or Python.\nStrong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).\nHands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.\nWorking knowledge of Azure Cloud, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).\nFamiliarity with messaging and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus).\nSolid understanding of security fundamentals and observability practices.\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.\nFluency in English.
