The role will lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, cloud-native solutions for the Assurance business, combining modern application development with practical experience in Azure infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code, automated deployment, systems integration, and the Microsoft Power Platform.\nThis role requires strong software architecture and engineering judgement, together with the ability to manage solutions across development, test, and production environments. The successful candidate will guide technical design decisions, embed secure and repeatable delivery practices, collaborate across business and technology teams, mentor developers, and identify opportunities to modernise platforms, improve productivity, and reduce operational and business risk.\nOther responsibilities include:\nArchitect and implement scalable, secure, and cloud-native software solutions aligned with business needs and enterprise architecture standards.\nDesign, build, and manage Azure services and infrastructure, including App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Azure SQL, and related platform capabilities.\nDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to enable consistent, repeatable, and controlled deployments across environments.\nConfigure and maintain CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, to automate build, testing, deployment, and release processes.\nDevelop modern web applications using React, JavaScript or TypeScript, and relevant backend technologies and frameworks.\nDesign, build, secure, and consume REST APIs to integrate Microsoft 365, Azure services, Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Dataverse, and external platforms.\nBuild, maintain, and enhance applications using Microsoft Power Apps and workflow automation solutions using Power Automate or equivalent tools.\nManage Azure environments across development, test, and production stages, ensuring stability, scalability, resilience, and operational continuity.\nManage solution identity and access, including Microsoft Entra ID, app registrations, service principals, managed identities, and role-based access control.\nApply governance, security, and risk management standards, including least-privilege access, secure secret management through Azure Key Vault, and appropriate technical controls.\nUpgrade and refactor legacy systems, recommending modernisation strategies aligned with cloud-native architecture and business priorities.\nConduct in-depth testing, debugging, monitoring, and performance optimisation to deliver robust and resilient solutions.\nProduce comprehensive technical, architectural, operational, and process documentation to support sustainability, auditability, and knowledge transfer.\nWrite clean, efficient, secure, and maintainable code based on business and technical requirements.\nCollaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, architects, security stakeholders, and development teams to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with strategic objectives.\nLead technical discussions, solution design decisions, architecture reviews, deployment support, and resolution of post-implementation issues.\nMentor junior and senior developers, support team-level problem solving, and contribute to capability building and continuous improvement.\nThis role provides an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, shaping secure and sustainable digital solutions while strengthening the team’s cloud, DevOps, and software delivery capability.\nQualifications\nTo excel in this role, you will need to combine hands-on technical depth with sound leadership, delivery ownership, and adaptability. Strongproblem-solvingability, awareness of evolving cloud and software engineering practices, and a commitment to continuous learning will be essential to delivering secure,high-quality, future-ready solutions.\nYou should also demonstrate:\nStrong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.\nHigh levels of self-motivation, accountability, and ownership of delivery outcomes.\nSound technical judgement, logical thinking, and strong attention to detail.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.\nEffective stakeholder management, collaboration, and facilitation skills.\nExperience working in team-oriented, agile delivery environments.\nStrong organisational, planning, prioritisation, and time-management capability.\nCuriosity about modern technologies and the ability to learn and apply new tools quickly.\nTo qualify for the role, you must have:\nA Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.\nAt least five years’ relevant software development experience, including responsibility for technical design, delivery, or team leadership.\nStrong full-stack development experience using modern languages and frameworks such as C#, .NET, JavaScript or TypeScript, React, Python, HTML, CSS, and Git.\nPractical experience designing, deploying, and supporting solutions on Microsoft Azure, including services such as App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, and Azure SQL.\nHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and environment configuration across development, test, and production.\nExperience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or an equivalent platform.\nExperience designing and consuming REST APIs and integrating with Microsoft Graph, SharePoint, Dataverse, Microsoft 365, Azure services, or external platforms.\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, app registrations, service principals, managed identities, RBAC, and secure secrets management.\nExperience developing workflow or automation solutions using Power Apps, Power Automate, or comparable technologies.\nStrong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, software design, testing, Agile delivery, and the software development life cycle.\nExperience applying cloud security, governance, least-privilege access, monitoring, and operational support practices.\nDemonstrated experience leading technical discussions, reviewing solution designs or code, mentoring developers, and supporting delivery teams.\nExposure to data analytics, Power BI, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence will be advantageous.\nRelevant Microsoft Azure or DevOps certifications, such as Azure Developer Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or DevOps Engineer Expert, will be advantageous.\nWho we are\nAt EY we support you in achieving your unique potential both personally and professionally.
