The role is responsible for building and maintaining monitoring and alerting solutions, leading production incident triage and root cause analysis, and improving service reliability across AWS and heterogeneous technology platforms. The engineer will leverage AI/ML and AIOps capabilities to predict and prevent incidents, accelerate diagnostics, automate operational processes, and reduce response times while collaborating with application, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to deliver highly available services.\nYour Key Responsibilities\nResponsible for decision-making, optimizing processes, resource management, and overseeing team management as needed for task execution.\nAccountable for allocating personnel, supervising team members, assigning tasks, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and support to succeed in their roles and optimizing and evaluating their performance to meet organizational goals.\nAlerting, monitoring and Triage\nBuild and maintain comprehensive monitoring and alerting to proactively identify performance degradation and application disruptions\nPerform end to end triage and in depth troubleshooting of production incidents by analysing logs, telemetry signals, and related diagnostic data to quickly identify root causes and restore service\nImplement ML models that analyse telemetry, logs and metrics to predict and prevent incidents before they impact users.\nImplement best in class detection mechanisms to reduce mean time to detect (MTTD) and accelerate incident response\nDevelop systems that learn from historical incidents, continuously improving diagnostic accuracy and accelerate incident response time\nBuild innovative, scalable alerting solutions across a heterogeneous technology landscape, including AWS, Unix, and Mainframe platforms.\nDevelop and maintain synthetic monitoring to simulate real user interactions and ensure early detection of failures.\nPerform daily health checks, triage and troubleshoot alerts, and resolve issues to minimize downtime and user impact.\nConduct trend analysis, identify recurring patterns, and partner with application teams to enhance system reliability and availability\nIncident Management\nParticipate in standard incident management processes, leveraging incident playbooks, diagnostic tools, and technical expertise to quickly identify impact and restore service\nProactively trigger incident management when early signals indicate potential disruption\nReview and act on maintenance notifications, service advisories, and platform updates to mitigate operational risks.\nMaintain a centralized incident response playbook, ensuring steps, processes, and escalation paths are clearly documented.\nDocument incidents, recovery steps, and learnings, and communicate them to relevant stakeholders to drive continuous improvement\nProblem Management:\nCollaborate closely with application (App) development teams to identify, diagnose, and resolve operational problems impacting the platform or applications.\nAct as a bridge between platform operations and development teams to ensure timely root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.\nCollaboration and Continuous Improvement\nWork collaboratively with developers, DevOps engineers, and IT stakeholders to improve performance, reliability, and operational maturity.\nContinuously refine alerting to reduce false positives and false negatives.\nStay current with emerging observability tools, monitoring strategies, and SRE practices.\nPromote and support adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles across teams.\nParticipates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned\nWillingness to work in a 24×7 support model, as needed\nSkills and attributes for success\nAWS Cloud Practitioner Certification (mandatory); AWS Solutions Architect certification preferred.\nMinimum of 3 years of hands on experience as an operations engineer, full stack developer, or automation engineer.\nExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability collaborating with application teams, ability to handle escalations and troubleshoot complex application issues.\nProficiency in reading and interpreting logs to generate operational intelligence and accelerate incident resolution.\nExperience with observability, SRE principles, and automation to reduce manual effort and improve system reliability.\nSound knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation, CloudWatch, and IAM.\nExperience with REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems\nStrong tooling and automation skills using Python, Java, Selenium etc.\nPrior experience in incident management and stakeholder communication.\nStrong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across teams\nPreferred Qualifications:\nFamiliarity with Agile development practices and methodologies.\nExperience with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools such as Honeycomb, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or other similar tools\nBackground in supporting Java-based applications on AWS, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, and deployment support.\nExperience with additional monitoring and visualization tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and ThousandEyes.\nExposure to Unix and Mainframe environments.\nExperience in networking and troubleshooting connectivity issues\nExperience building AI/LLM-powered applications (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) is nice to have\nEducation:\nDegree: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience\nWhat we offer you\nAt EY, we’ll develop you with future-focused skills and equip you with world-class experiences.
