This role will primarily manage fixed asset accounting, lease accounting under ASC 842, internal-use software capitalization under ASC 350-40, and cloud computing arrangement implementation cost accounting under ASC 350-40 (as amended by ASU 2018-15). The role is highly cross-functional, partnering closely with Procurement, IT, Legal, Real Estate/Facilities, FP&A, Financial Reporting, A/P, and Tax to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of our long-lived asset and lease portfolios.\nThe ideal candidate brings hands-on technical accounting experience in the above domains, ideally proficient in Oracle EBS (including the Oracle Fixed Assets module), LeaseQuery or similar lease accounting software tool, and Coupa. A demonstrated interest in process automation and the application of AI tools to improve accounting workflows is imperative. The ideal candidate is a strong team player with the desire to contribute in a high-performing, collaborative environment, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to effectively partner across teams and levels of the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional looking to make a meaningful impact at a leading multi-cloud application security company.\nKey Responsibilities:\nAccounting & Compliance\nAccounting:\nOversee the full lifecycle of fixed assets and lease accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, reconciliations, journal entries, reporting, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and F5 policies.\nManage accounting processes for internal-use software and cloud computing arrangements (CCA), ensuring accurate cost evaluations, capitalization, amortization, and related disclosures.\nPartner with Procurement, IT, FP&A, and other departments to evaluate expenditure requests, determine proper accounting treatment, and document supporting conclusions.\nServe as a resource for international accounting teams, collaborating on recurring and ad hoc efforts and reporting needs.\nOwn the accounting for your area, anchored in the monthly accounting close process, identify opportunities for standardization, efficiency, accuracy, and automation.\nProactively problem-solve and drive enhancements across departments as needed.\nCompliance:\nCollaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure a smooth and efficient audit process.\nImplement and execute relevant internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.\nQualifications:\nExperience and Education\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.\nCPA designation or equivalent professional certification is preferred.\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public companies or high-growth organizations.\nProven experience in managing the accounting close process, including internal reporting, fluctuation analysis, and execution of SOX internal controls in a dynamic environment.\nExperience in working within financial ERP systems (Oracle, Coupa, etc.), reconciliation tools (Blackline), lease accounting tools (LeaseQuery), and AI and financial automation tools, strongly preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nExperienced in US GAAP and internal controls, lease accounting under ASC 842, and accounting for fixed assets. \nExcellent analytical skills and attention to detail.\nExcellent communication skills with proven ability to partner with other levels in the organization.\nStrong sense of ownership and ability to apply judgment to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached with stakeholders.\nProven ability to proactively identify and escalate risks and issues to leadership.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team environment.\nPossess a critical thinking mindset.\nExperience within the technology industry is a plus.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment\nThis is a hybrid role, located within F5’s Seattle-based headquarters.\nDuties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. \nDuties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.\nDuties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). \nF5 is an equal opportunity employer and strongly supports diversity in the workplace.\nThe Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
