And it means we prioritize a diverse F5 community where each individual can thrive.\nJob Description\nF5 is seeking an accomplished Senior Hardware Engineering Manager to manage a new Hardware Development Team. This is a first-level management position. This position will be responsible for planning, tracking, and delivering hardware platforms. You will lead by establishing strategies and plans that are aligned and coordinated with other development functions throughout the F5 organization. You will coordinate project timelines with Project and Development Managers, determine and obtain resources, assign work, monitor progress and results, and provide technical leadership. You will be a champion for product quality and accountable for meeting commitments on platform delivery schedules.\nKey Responsibilities:\nUphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies.\nActively manages team, including but not limited to sourcing, interviewing and hiring candidates for open positions, onboarding, establishing goals, assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance evaluations, approving paid time-off (PTO), developing performance improvement plans, and taking disciplinary action.\nEstablishes, revises, and upholds policies, processes and procedures to drive higher efficiency while maintaining quality.\nParticipates in technical reviews and communicates risks to senior management.\nProvides guidance and advice to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.\nAttends regular project team meetings, monitors and tracks tasks, and prioritizes work as appropriate to ensure milestones are met.\nWorks with Project Management teams to develop and administer schedules; provides input into budgeting.\nWorks with Manufacturing teams to coordinate and manage prototype system build and test efforts.\nMay communicate product roadmaps and project status to staff, senior management, and other product teams.\nEvaluates and reviews new technologies on their applicability to product architecture and design.\nMay maintain and renew equipment and software tool licenses.\nQualifications:\nRequired:\nUnderstand and comply with F5 internal processes and requirements.\nBS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.\n10+ years of professional experience in hardware development.\n5+ years leading or managing a development team.\nProven ability to deliver products of the highest quality, on time and within budget.\nDemonstrated ability to lead technical teams.\nDemonstrated ability in mentoring and developing direct reports.\nExtensive experience with bug tracking and triage systems.\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills.\nAdvanced multitasking of job duties and/or projects.\nDuties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 10% of the time spent traveling.\nPreferred:\nAdvanced system-level & board-level troubleshooting experience.\nExpertise in electrical and electronics engineering design and test methodologies.\nThorough understanding of high-speed design concepts and practices.\nHands-on design experience with x86 CPUs, FPGAs, 100G+ SerDes, network switches, and high-layer count PCBs.\nExpertise in PCB technologies.\nExperience in networking & high-speed digital design.\nExperience with system and board level power distribution.\nExperience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.\nExperience with electrical test equipment, including digital oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, BERTs, etc.\nExperience with Verilog HDL programming.\nKnowledge of DFx requirements.\nKnowledge of compliance and regulatory design requirements.\nThe Job Description is intended to be a general representation of the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
