The successful candidate will apply an engineering-based approach to solving complex security and reliability challenges, leveraging machine data analytics and log analysis across the enterprise. Designing systems that touch critical business functions-from customer ordering and public websites to internal fulfillment processes and product development. You will partner with senior technical leaders and cross-functional teams to architect solutions, implement security protocols, and drive F5's digital transformation through secure and flexible platforms.\nThis position is based in Seattle, WA.\nPrimary Responsibilities\nDesign and architect scalable, secure system solutions under the guidance of senior technical leaders, with focus on enterprise-scale distributed systems\nImplement security-focused solutions using engineering best practices and machine data analytics for security across the enterprise\nLead initiatives in log analysis, intrusion detection, and security analytics with supervision and mentorship\nApply DevOps tooling and API scripting to solve complex operational and security challenges\nDevelop and articulate technical proposals and implementation timelines under senior review\nPartner with cross-functional teams to design and implement enterprise-scale solutions with focus on scalability, performance, and security\nCollaborate on service availability and quality initiatives to deliver high-quality, secure services\nAssist in incubating new ideas for business outcomes and security improvements\nContribute to F5's digital transformation by designing systems that provide secure and flexible platforms for internal teams\nSupport data-driven decision-making through effective design, delivery, and tooling\nParticipate in code reviews and technical design discussions to ensure quality and engineering excellence\nTroubleshoot and resolve complex security and reliability issues, escalating to senior architects as needed\nActively collaborate with team members and senior technical leads to deliver quality solutions\nParticipate in on-call rotation activities with senior engineer support for critical security incidents\nResponsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies\nPerforms other related duties as assigned\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nStrong engineering-based approach to problem-solving with focus on quality and excellence\nProficiency in a variety of scripting languages and tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Shell)\nSolid understanding of API design and scripting for enterprise solutions\nWorking knowledge of DevOps tooling, infrastructure automation, and security protocols (such as SAML)\nUnderstanding of enterprise distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization\nKnowledge of machine data analytics and log analysis for security purposes\nReceives regular direction and mentorship from senior-level SRE and security staff\nStrong analytic and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically\nAbility to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment\nStrong team player with a willingness to learn and grow\nDemonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications\nEffective communicator capable of creating technical partnerships across teams\nAbility to take constructive feedback and apply it to improve work quality\nFlexibility and adaptability to changing requirements and technical landscapes\nExposure to security protocols and security-first architectural approaches is a plus\nExperience with containerization and orchestration platforms is a plus\nAutomation tooling such as Terraform or Chef is a plus\nExposure to AI tooling such as Generative AI, LLMs, and prompts is a plus\nQualifications\nSuccessfully completed a Summer 2026 internship with F5\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related technical field, or additional relevant experience.\nMust be able to start no later than September 30th, 2027\nMust be able to work onsite in accordance with F5's policies;
