This person will be responsible for bridging the gap between benchtop R&D and pilot-line production of Factorial Energy’s next generation solid state batteries. The Ideal candidate will have a background in material chemistry or related field, have an understanding of process-material relationships, comfortable operating a range of processing and material characterization equipment, and a desire to gain hands on experience in the solid-state battery field. \nIn this role, you will: \nExecute coating formulations and scale up material production from laboratory scale to multi-kilogram quantities. \nSet up, operate, and maintain specialized powder processing hardware and utilize air-sensitive chemical techniques. \nServe as a central resource for material characterization, regularly operating and interpreting data from SEM, EDX, XRD, DSC, and FT-IR. \nCross-train across the solid-state fabrication line, supporting anode/cathode preparation, separator production, and small cell assembly and testing. \nMaintain meticulous data logs, high standards of laboratory cleanliness, and strict adherence to chemical safety protocols. \nCollaborate with multi-disciplinary R&D teams to troubleshoot and improve process consistency. \nWe are looking for people who: \nMS or BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline. \nStrong comfort level operating complex, non-standard laboratory processing equipment. \nHands-on experience or solid theoretical understanding of material characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, DSC, FT-IR). \nDemonstrated understanding of process-structure-property relationships and a desire to scale benchtop processes. \nExceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a \"clean-as-you-go\" laboratory approach. \nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative team setting as well as function independently. \nAdaptable mindset with a strong eagerness to learn new battery fabrication techniques over time. \nNice to have Qualifications: \nPrior experience with powder processing, particle coating, or chemical scale-up techniques. \nExperience working in inert processing environments (e.g., gloveboxes or dry rooms) or with air-sensitive materials. \nFamiliarity with battery technologies, solid electrolytes, or energy storage materials. \nExperience organizing, plotting, and presenting material characterization datasets to cross-functional teams. \nSome of our competitive benefits include: \nMedical, dental, and vision insurance \nGenerous paid time off \n401(k) plan that includes employer matching funds \nEducation assistance plan \nLife insurance and disability coverage \nSalary Range (MA role only): $65k-85k \nWork Location: 805 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, MA 01821 \nFactorial Energy is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity at all levels.
