In fulfilling this role, the Senior Mechanical Engineer works closely with engineering team department members, maintenance, and operations. They provide day-to-day technical support on all aspects of plant machine center operations. The Senior Mechanical Engineer works with maintenance planning and operations to plan and schedule all preventative and predictive maintenance for machines as needed. They will act as plant liaison for new system start up and commissioning by all outside controls contractors and system integrators to ensure proper transfer of documented PLC program changes, manuals, and adequate training on the installation/changes that have been completed. \nresponsibilities: \nPerform design of experiments (DOE) to redesign systems creating chronic issues and develop sustainable solutions. \nMaintain and update all documentation for machine centers, as needed (Schematics, manuals, PI&D). \nSource parts through schematics, spare parts manual, and parts attendant. \nMake recommendations on spare parts for internal inventory. \nCreate work orders and PM’s through D365 and add all parts required for the scope of work to be performed. \nHelp coordinate and facilitate the scheduling of overhauls. \nDrive process improvements and present to the Engineering Department. \nSchedule downtime repairs with packaging, maintenance, and project manager/supervisors. \nWork together with Operations and utilize all resources to eliminate downtime. \nDemonstrate leadership skills by teaching technicians with how to perform technician PM’s \nParticipates in plant safety, health, and environmental programs. \nDrive improvements through the CI processes and playbook that Goodyear has established. \nClosely collaborate with the manufacturing and engineering team to clearly define engineering acceptance standards and specifications based on the voice of the customer. \nValidate and characterize new processes, equipment and fixtures for production implementation focused on damage-free. \nCreate detailed manufacturing instructions to document engineering critical characteristics. \nCollaborate with the Quality, Manufacturing and Maintenance Managers to reduce and eliminate downtime contained on the single agenda. \nPerform BDA and RCA’s for issues that arise from the production floor. \nIncorporate Lean Manufacturing best practices and working in a culture focused on continuous improvement. \nDrive GMP and 5S initiatives. \nDemonstrated critical thinking skills with cognitive actions. \nAble to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business. \nAbility to launch and drive large capital projects from design recommendations to complete ownership. \nDrive Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) to be best in class. \nDive Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to be best in class. \nOther duties may be assigned. \nskills/qualifications required: \nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another related field. \nHigh speed manufacturing, dairy processing, and packaging. \nSix Sigma Green or Black Belt accreditation a plus. \nworking conditions: \nSitting/Standing/Walking: Stands, walks, and sits during completion of job responsibilities. \nLifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting requirements as job demands.
