The role is based on-site at our corporate headquarters in Valparaiso, Indiana.\nPosition summary: The Construction Manager is responsible for the day-to-day, on-site management of construction projects, including new builds, remodels, renovations, and capital improvements across the company’s facilities. This role ensures projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with approved plans, budgets, and timelines. The Construction Manager works closely with the Project Manager, architects, engineers, contractors, and internal partners including Facilities, Marketing, Operations to ensure field activities meet quality standards and comply with applicable codes and regulations.\nGeneral Purpose: To lead on-site construction efforts from groundbreaking to closeout by coordinating trades, enforcing quality and safety standards, troubleshooting issues in real time, and ensuring deliverables align with project requirements. This role supports the company's operational goals by ensuring facilities are built and maintained to the highest standards, allowing teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience. To be an ambassador of our “Living Brand” by building relationships with our customers.\nRole Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)\n5+ years of hands-on construction management experience preferred\nOSHA 30-Hour Certification required\nFamiliarity with blueprint reading, building codes, permitting, and construction safety practices\nSkilled in using Bluebeam for reviewing and marking up drawings\nAble to read and understand Revit and CAD plans\nExcellent communication, scheduling, and vendor coordination skills\nProficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite\nAbility to be on call for urgent site-related issues (24/7 availability required)\nPosition Responsibilities:\nOversee and manage all on-site activities during new build, remodel, renovation, and capital improvement projects\nCoordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and vendors to ensure timely and high-quality execution\nEnsure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, permits, and company policies\nCollaborate regularly with the Project Manager to ensure alignment between field execution and project planning\nReview and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and scopes of work\nMonitor site progress and maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and updates to the VP of Development\nPartner with architects, engineers, and internal teams to resolve technical or design issues\nConduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to specifications\nManage procurement and delivery of materials to prevent shortages or delays\nIdentify and address field issues proactively to support project timelines and budgets\nEnforce safety protocols on-site and conduct safety audits as needed\nServe as a liaison between vendors, contractors, and internal departments such as Facilities, Marketing, and Operations\nEnsure all necessary inspections, certifications, and closeout documentation are obtained\nMaintain a positive, professional, and safety-focused job site environment\nUphold the company’s “Living Brand” values through leadership, collaboration, and customer-focused service\nAll other duties as assigned\nRequirements\nEssential Skills and Experience:\nStrong situational awareness and problem-solving in fast-paced environments\nExcellent troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities\nEffective time and resource management\nStrong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills\nHigh accountability and attention to detail\nFlexibility and adaptability to changing site needs\nStrong teamwork and communication\nAbility to lead by example in safety, quality, and professionalism\nNonessential Skills and Experience:\nPrevious retail experience\nReporting To This Position: No direct reports\nPhysical demands and work environment:\n Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods; work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear; taste and smell.
