This is a unique opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, highly transactional environment and enjoys being actively involved in day-to-day accounting processes.\nUnlike a traditional Assistant Controller position focused primarily on financial reporting and analysis, this role will have a strong emphasis on transactional accounting, accounts payable operations, process improvement, and team oversight.\nThe ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage high transaction volumes while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.\nKey Responsibilities\nAccounts Payable & Transactional Accounting\nOversee daily accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, payment processing, and vendor account reconciliation.\nSupervise, train, and support the Accounts Payable team to ensure timely and accurate processing.\nManage high volumes of accounting transactions while maintaining strong internal controls and accuracy.\nMonitor outstanding invoices, vendor statements, payment schedules, and account discrepancies.\nWork closely with operations, purchasing, and other departments to resolve invoice and payment issues.\nIdentify opportunities to streamline transactional processes and improve efficiencies.\nAccounting Operations & Financial Support\nAssist the Controller with daily accounting operations and month-end and year-end closing activities.\nPrepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions.\nSupport financial reporting, expense tracking, and account analysis.\nAssist with maintaining internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.\nSupport audits by preparing documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.\nAssist with special accounting projects and operational reporting as needed.\nTeam Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration\nProvide direct oversight and guidance to the Accounts Payable team.\nEstablish clear expectations, monitor workloads, and ensure deadlines are met.\nCollaborate with facility management and department leaders to resolve accounting-related matters.\nSupport accounting operations at both the Reedley and Kingsburg facilities as business needs require.\nWork Environment & Schedule\nThis is a fully on-site position supporting accounting operations across Family Tree Farms' Reedley and Kingsburg facilities. The selected candidate must be flexible to report to either location based on operational needs. Remote or hybrid work arrangements are not available.\nRequirements\nRequired:\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.\nMinimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant accounts payable or transactional accounting responsibilities.\nPrevious experience supervising or leading accounting staff.\nStrong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.\nStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.\nAbility to work independently while remaining actively involved in daily accounting operations.\nMust be willing and able to work on-site at either the Reedley or Kingsburg facility as needed.\nPreferred:\nExperience with Famous Software (agricultural accounting/ERP system) is a plus but not required.\nExperience in agriculture, food production, packinghouse operations, manufacturing, or another high-volume transactional environment.\nExperience improving accounting workflows and implementing process
