Accuracy and customer trust are the team’s core tenets, because customers trust us with their money, their identity, and their personal data.\nWe are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain the scalable, highly available, and compliant Java services behind the account lifecycle. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys owning features end to end, solving complex integration problems, and working closely with product, compliance, and operations partners. This is a US-based remote position.\nResponsibilities\nDesign, build, and maintain Java backend services using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.\nDeliver features across registration, KYC, login and MFA, device registration, account management, tax reporting, Fanatics ID integration, and watchlist monitoring.\nBuild and maintain services that enforce regulatory and responsible gaming requirements, including geolocation, state and self-exclusion, prohibited persons, loss limits, and eligibility.\nBuild integrations with third-party identity, verification, geolocation, and compliance providers, designing for failure, retries, and data integrity.\nWrite scalable, well-tested services with strong unit and integration test coverage.\nContribute to architecture and design discussions for APIs, event-driven systems, and data flows.\nTroubleshoot complex production issues and take part in the weekly on-call rotation, contributing to runbooks and post-mortems.\nPartner with Product, Technical Program Management, Compliance, Support, and client engineering to turn business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions, and take part in sprint planning and agile delivery.\nMentor junior to mid-level engineering teammates through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing.\nFollow engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, feature flagging, documentation) and improve reliability and maintainability by addressing technical debt.\nExperience and Skills\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java.\nStrong experience building and supporting production Java backend services with Spring Boot or similar frameworks.\nExperience developing REST APIs and integrating distributed systems and data flows.\nExperience with event-driven architectures such as Kafka or similar messaging platforms.\nExperience working in AWS or other cloud environments.\nExperience with relational and NoSQL data stores such as Postgres and MongoDB.\nExperience using AI tools or coding assistants to improve engineering productivity.\nExperience with identity and account systems (registration, authentication, MFA, OAuth2/OIDC), KYC, fraud, or payments is preferred.\nExperience with compliance-driven systems such as geolocation, responsible gaming, or regulatory data handling is preferred.\nExperience building highly available, regulated, or enterprise-scale applications is preferred.\nExperience with observability tooling (for example Datadog) and operating services on call is a plus.\nStrong troubleshooting, ownership, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and with cross-functional partners.\nDepending on the role, your interview and onboarding experience may include in-person components, such as onsite interviews or Launching into Better: LIVE-a multi-day cultural immersion in New York City for full-time, non-seasonal hires.
