Successful candidates will be required to perform work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus, as required.\nPosting Closing Date:\nSeptember 30, 2026Campus Location:\nLondon, ONDepartment:\nHUM2 School of Community Studies JMEmployment Group:\nSupportPay Details:\n$34.65 HourlyWorker Sub-Type:\nCasual (Fixed Term)Time Type:\nPart timeRemote Type:\nIn-PersonContract End Date:\nDecember 18, 2026Hours of Work per Week:\n24Job Description:\nNote: These are part-time casual positions (up to 24 hours per week) until December 18, 2026 with the possibility of extension into the next (Winter) term. \nDuties: Reporting to the Program Manager, School of Community Studies, the specific duties include, but are not limited to:\nAttending classes with the CICE student(s) \nProviding transition into college/academic life \nProviding CICE students with support in the classroom including note taking, lab support, group work facilitating, and advocating for CICE student concerns \nMeeting weekly with the CICE student(s) to support each scheduled class by preparing and supplementing class material \nSetting-up and assisting the student in the use of adaptive technologies equipment when needed (in and out of class) \nPromoting inclusion of CICE students in the classroom and in College social activities \nReferring students to access appropriate College resources (Financial Aid, Centre for Students with Disabilities, lockers, books, etc.) \nWorking collaboratively as part of the CICE Program Team \nAdvise teachers of modifications to learning outcomes \nProvide input to the student’s evaluation process for CICE students \nQUALIFICATIONS\nPost-secondary 2-year diploma/degree in a related field of study such as Education Assistant, Developmental Service Worker, Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker or Early Childhood Education \nRecent and relevant experience working with individuals with special needs, developmental challenges, and/or significant learning challenges \nSpecial Education training, Special Education certificate, and/or experience working with Special needs individuals would be considered an asset \nAn equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements \nProficient with computer software applications: word processing, email applications, online resources, internet research, and adaptive technologies \nPreference will be given to candidates with experience and education in teaching \nEffective planning, time management and organizational skills to set priorities accordingly and handle multiple responsibilities with tight deadlines simultaneously \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team \nDemonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills to provide alternative options/solutions \nAbility to maintain confidentiality and sound judgment and decision-making skills \nExcellent communication (written and verbal) skills \nFanshawe College uses Workday to manage recruitment and hiring processes.\nEducational Credentials\nWhile transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory as a condition of employment.\nEquity, Diversity and Inclusion\nFanshawe College is an equal opportunity employer.
