ABOUT THE ROLE\nWe’re looking for a Backend Engineer to build the APIs and services behind our AI platform.\nYou’ll work primarily with TypeScript and Node.js on features such as accounts, organizations, access management, API keys, usage, and billing. You’ll collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure engineers to take features from requirements to production.\nWe value practical engineering: clear code, reliable behavior, and sensible technical decisions. Experience with Go is strongly encouraged. Previous work in AI or LLM inference is welcome but not required.\n03. WHAT YOU’LL OWN\nBackend development\nBuild and maintain backend services and REST APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.\nImplement product features, including authentication, permissions, organizations, projects, and API key management.\nWork with frontend engineers to define clear API contracts and handle loading, errors, and edge cases.\nDeliver features through implementation, testing, release, and follow-up improvements.\nData and integrationsDesign PostgreSQL schemas, write migrations, and improve queries where needed.\nIntegrate usage reporting, billing, and external services.\nBuild background jobs and handle retries, duplicate events, and failed requests safely.\nUse caching and queues where they solve a concrete problem.\nReliability and qualityWrite automated tests for important workflows and failure cases.\nDiagnose issues using logs and metrics, and fix their underlying causes.\nKeep code readable, document key decisions, and contribute to code reviews.\nWork with infrastructure and inference engineers to connect product services with model-serving systems.\n04. REQUIREMENTS\n3 years+ of professional backend development experience.\nStrong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Node.js.\nExperience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs.\nGood working knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexes, and transactions.\nUnderstanding of asynchronous programming, error handling, and external API integrations.\nExperience implementing authentication, authorization, and secure handling of user data and credentials.\nAbility to write useful automated tests and troubleshoot production issues.\nClear communication and the ability to turn product requirements into working backend features.\n05. NICE TO HAVE\nGo experience is strongly preferred, including the ability to read, maintain, or build services in Go.\nExperience with Redis, message queues, or background workers.\nFamiliarity with payments, usage-based billing, or webhook integrations.\nExperience with Docker and CI/CD workflows.\nExperience building SaaS products or developer-facing APIs.\nFamiliarity with AI APIs, streaming responses, or long-running requests.\n06.
