Our culture is rooted in servant leadership, and we live by our Farmer Focus CARES values: Community, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Stewardship.\nHow this role will be impactful\nAs the Refrigeration Superintendent, you will be responsible for the supervision, mentorship and leadership of the PSM Coordinator, Refrigeration leads, and refrigeration technicians at all Farmer Focus facilities. This role will also be responsible for repairs of the refrigeration system while complying with PSM and RMP guidelines. In this position you will rebuild and adjust refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air equipment. You will be responsible to safely operate the ammonia refrigeration systems and freon systems, for processing and completing work orders, troubleshooting, mechanical failures, and performing equipment maintenance.\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:\nStrong understanding of the refrigeration cycle, refrigeration, controls, and electrical systems.\nKnowledge of ammonia refrigeration equipment, such as compressors, ammonia pumps, evaporative condensers etc.\nMaintains all operational logs as required.\nMust be qualified to receive or transfer ammonia in all plant systems.\nMust be qualified to do routine maintenance on ammonia compressors, air compressors, ammonia liquid pumps, ammonia system controls, air system controls, air system drying equipment and refrigeration system condensers.\nMaintains an awareness of equipment operation, especially excessive heat, vibration, and noise, reporting malfunctions, hazards, or wear to the Refrigeration Manager\nAbility to repair or replace defective parts as needed.\nSuccessfully performs all routine tasks and applies skills and experience to solve non-routine mechanical and process issues.\nDemonstrate understanding and adhere to all work safety policies, procedures, and PSM/RMP requirements.\nPerform PMs and repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, vessels, valves, and other machinery included in the ammonia refrigeration equipment.\nAccurately completes requisition forms as needed to order parts and supplies to keep systems in good general repair.\nResponsible for checking voltage, fuses and resistance with the use of a Volt-Ohm-Meter (VOM).\nCompetently uses and understands technical documents, including but not limited to: Maintenance Manuals, Schematics, Procedures, Repair Documents, etc.\nMaintains a neat and orderly workstation / Shop Area as needed.\nOther duties, as needed.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nAssociates or Bachelors degree is a plus.\n5+ years industrial refrigeration experience required.\nExperience supervising a team of 5 or more team members highly preferred.\nCARO certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire\nCIRO certification is highly desirable.\nAbility to successfully complete Ammonia Technician Operator Level 1 and 2 will be required.\nAbility to lead and train other refrigeration techs in good engineering practices and recognized industry standards.\nAbility to communicate both verbally and in writing as well as read and interpret blue-prints and schematics.\nAbility to update and maintain control system P&ID’s, SOP’s, and PM work orders.\nProven knowledge of Refrigeration, High Pressure Steam Boilers, HVAC, controls, and fundamentals of PSM/RMP is required.\nWorking knowledge of ammonia refrigeration system is a must.\nA basic understanding of Lean Principles is preferred, but not required.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities change quickly.\nWilling to work as part of a team.\nRegular and reliable attendance required.\nAbility to work a flexible schedule.\nTakes the initiative and pro-actively seeks to resolve issues independently when discovered.\nWilling to work occasional overtime, including weekends, as required.\nMust be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.\nWritten and Verbal English proficiency required.\nBi-lingual proficiency in Spanish, French, or other languages is a plus.\nOther Requirements\nMust have fine hand and finger dexterity.\nAbility to climb stairs, ladders, and platforms\nMust be willing to participate on PSM/safety committee.\nMust comply with all safety rules and instructions, participate in the Company training programs, and make every effort to learn, develop, and upgrade skills required for this job classification.\nMust be able to pass the fitness test.\nMust be able to wear a full-face respirator.\nMust be clean shaven. No more than 24 hours of facial hair growth.\nMust be willing to be part of our Hazmat team.\nWorking Environment:\nWork conducted primarily in a manufacturing/production environment. Must be able to tolerate the varying heat, wet and chill of the plant.
