In this role, qualified candidates will have the opportunity to work in the field on Municipal and Private projects, providing construction engineering services related to Roadway, Sitework, Stormwater, Water, and Wastewater improvements. This key role will require coordination with contractors, clients, and both internal and external consultants throughout Central Illinois.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nPerform onsite construction observation and documentation for civil municipal and private projects, including potable water, sanitary and storm sewer, water resources, grading, site improvements, and roadways.\nMonitor the work completed, relative to the project schedule and budget, and provide status updates to the Project Manager and Client.\nVerify construction materials and constructed items are in conformance with project construction plans and specifications.\nDocument construction activities and quantities for use in pay request generation and approval.\nPerform as-built surveys of project components utilizing GPS and Robotic Total Station.\nReview shop drawing submittals and assist in project documentation and reporting.\nCommunicate and interact with supervisors, contractors, and clients.\nWork in a team environment with exposure to a wide variety of project types across Civil Engineering.\nOther duties, as assigned.\nWhat You’ll Need:\nAssociate’s degree in Applied Science with emphasis in civil construction or construction management, or applicable and equivalent experience.\n3-8 years of related civil engineering project experience.\nA hardworking attitude, inquisitive nature, and the desire to understand how things work.\nNice To Haves:\nAbility to travel within the Champaign, IL area. \nAbility to read and comprehend civil engineering drawings and specifications.\nAbility to compute basic quantities for constructed components of a project.\nBasic survey capabilities with robotic and GPS survey equipment.\nBasic understanding of AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or MicroStation.\nAbility to work both in the office and field for construction engineering and observation.\nCommunication, organization, and time management skills.\nInternship or experience in construction.\nWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements: \nRequires the ability to work in various terrain & weather conditions and recognize safety hazards.\nRequires the ability to safely operate and drive company vehicles.\nMay require lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, hammering, digging, and other physical activities.\nMay require the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, and lift and/or move heavier loads rarely\nCompensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.\nIllinois Pay Transparency\n$24—$38 USD\nWho We Are:\nJoin Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural engineering and surveying firm where your career can thrive!
