Qualified candidates will work with our Utility Engineering Team in the locating, mapping, construction monitoring, drafting, design, and permitting of telecommunications and utility projects. Job duties will include performing site visits, preparing civil based utility drawings, as well as occasionally assisting with permits. We are willing to train the right candidate to develop into an important member of our team.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nComplete site visits including but not limited to utility locating, GIS mapping, documenting existing conditions, and manhole mapping\nVisit construction sites to monitor contractor safety and provide quality control to ensure the project is being built as specified in the plans and specifications\nObserve and document as-built conditions\nProvide office support for telecommunications and other utility projects using AutoCAD or other design software\nOccasionally travel overnight\nWhat You’ll Need: \nHigh School Diploma or equivalent\n2+ years of relevant experience as a technician\nGreat attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player.\nThis position typically has work that is performed in both an office environment and in the field on construction site.\nValid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance\nAbility to work outside in a wide variety of weather and terrain conditions\nAbility to regularly lift and/ or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 100 pounds. This role requires lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, climbing, pushing, pulling, and other physical exertion.\nEncourages and supports a safety-oriented culture.\nNice To Haves: (optional; not all jobs will have this separate list)\nAssociates Degree in Pre-engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, etc. or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field\nExperience in telecommunications, fiber optic, or utility design or construction\nExperience in fiber optic, copper, or coax splicing\nExperience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) locating and/or surveying\nFamiliarity with utility atlases/records and/or GIS programs\nExperience with AutoCAD, Microstation or ARAMIS\nCompensation to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity.\nIllinois Pay Transparency\n$24—$34 USD\nWho We Are:\nJoin Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural engineering and surveying firm where your career can thrive!
