Fathom’s extensive certifications include ISO 9001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 Design, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100:2016, NIST 800-171 and ITAR.\nPosition Summary\nThis role exists to turn operational reality into commercial excellence.\nThe Manager of Pre-Sales Engineering leads the quoting and internal project management teams to ensure that quotes are accurate, executable, and margin-protective, and that awarded work flows smoothly from order to delivery.\nThis leader uses deep manufacturing knowledge to eliminate the traditional gap between what is quoted, what is planned, and what is actually executed on the floor.\nPrimary accountability areas include: Quoting accuracy and optimization, commercial execution discipline, quote-to-actual performance alignment, internal project management effectiveness and continuous improvement of estimating models and assumptions.\nPrimary Responsibilities\n1. Quoting Leadership & Optimization\nLead and develop the quoting / estimating team\nEstablish and enforce quoting standards:Assumptions\nRisk flags\nRouting logic\nCycle time, setup, and labor models\n\nApply CNC and manufacturing expertise to:Improve process selection\nEliminate unrealistic assumptions\nAlign quotes with true shop capability\n\nDrive continuous improvement in:Quote accuracy\nMargin protection\nWin-rate by margin band\n\nAct as the technical authority on manufacturability during quoting\n2. Quote-to-Execution Alignment\nEnsure awarded work matches quoted scope, assumptions, and strategy\nValidate routings, setups, and process plans prior to release\nPartner closely with Operations to:Confirm feasibility\nSurface risks early\nAdjust scope or schedule before issues occur\n\nLead post-job reviews to close gaps between:Quoted vs actual time\nQuoted vs actual cost\nQuoted vs actual margin\n\n3. Internal Project / Program Management Leadership\nLead internal Project Managers \nEnsure PMs:Run structured kickoffs\nMaintain scope, schedule, and change control\nEscalate risks early and clearly\n\nStandardize PM workflows from order acceptance through delivery\nServe as escalation point for:Scope changes\nSchedule conflicts\nCommercial execution issues\n\n4. Cross-Functional Integration\nServe as the primary interface between:Quoting\nProject Management\n\nOperations\nTranslate operational constraints into commercial decisions\nSupport the Department P&L Owner with:Risk identification\nMargin improvement initiatives\n\n5. Continuous Improvement & Systems\nImprove estimating tools, templates, and logic\nDrive standard work for quoting, work release and internal project management\nSupport implementation of:Software optimization\nERP / MES enhancements\nData feedback loops from the shop floor\n\nChampion data-driven decision making in quoting and execution\n\nRequirements\nAt least 5 years’ experience in a CNC or technical role, and supporting sales or customer engagement in a manufacturing environment.\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field preferred.\nDeep understanding of manufacturing, specifically CNC and additive manufacturing technologies. \nAbility to review and refine technical solutions, lead complex demos, and address technical objections.\nExperience with CAD/CAM software.\nAerospace and Defense experience a plus.\nPrevious leadership experience is a plus.\nDemonstrated history of pre-sales or technical sales support, particularly in complex engineering or manufacturing environments.\nat we offer:\nHealth Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
