Fathom’s extensive certifications include ISO 9001:2015, ISO 9001:2015 Design, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100:2016, NIST 800-171 and ITAR.\nPosition Summary\nThe CNC Saw Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC-controlled sawing equipment to accurately cut raw material to specified lengths and quantities per production work orders and engineering drawings. This role ensures consistent material preparation, dimensional accuracy, and efficient throughput while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\nProgram, set up, and operate CNC band saws, cold saws, or automated saw systems\n\nInterpret work orders, cut lists, shop travelers, and engineering drawings\n\nEnter, edit, and verify CNC programs for accurate part length, quantity, and feed rates\n\nSet material stops, clamps, and fixtures for repeatable, accurate cutting\n\nVerify material type, size, heat lot, and traceability prior to cutting\n\nPerform first-article inspections and in-process checks using precision measuring tools\n\nAdjust feed rates, blade speed, and cutting parameters based on material type and size\n\nMonitor blade condition and replace blades as required\n\nLoad and unload raw material using cranes, forklifts, or automated material handling systems\n\nLabel, stage, and organize cut material to support downstream machining operations\n\nMaintain accurate production records and material usage logs\n\nPerform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC saw equipment\n\nMaintain a clean and organized workstation following 5S / 6S standards\n\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, cost, and delivery\n\nRequired Skills & Qualifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\n\n2-5 years experience operating CNC saws or automated cutting equipment in a manufacturing or machine shop environment\n\nExperience programming CNC saw controllers (e.g., Kasto, Behringer, Amada, Marvel, Hem, Hyd-Mech, or similar systems)\n\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and material cut lists\n\nProficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures)\n\nStrong understanding of cutting parameters for various alloys\n\nSolid math skills, including decimals, fractions, and basic trigonometry\n\nForklift and overhead crane operation experience preferred\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand for extended periods\n\nLift and handle material up to 50 lbs\n\nFrequent bending, reaching, and material handling\n\nAbility to safely operate lifting devices\n\nWork Environment\nManufacturing machine shop environment\n\nExposure to cutting fluids, metal chips, loud equipment, and heavy materials\n\nPPE required: safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, gloves\n\nPerformance Metrics (KPIs)\nCut accuracy and first-pass yield\n\nScrap reduction\n\nMaterial staging accuracy and timeliness\n\nMachine utilization\n\nSafety compliance\n\nPreventive maintenance adherence\n\nWhat we offer:\nHealth Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
