In this role, you will develop scalable backend systems, build new platform features, optimize performance, and collaborate closely with product, UX, and growth teams. You will contribute to the technical backbone powering millions of user interactions across our dating and social discovery products.\nWhile PHP experience is preferred, we encourage developers who have experience with other web technologies to apply, as long as they are comfortable working with PHP and eager to contribute to our backend systems.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop, maintain, and enhance backend features for Fayara platforms using PHP (preferably PHP 8+).\n\nBuild scalable APIs and backend services supporting mobile and web clients.\n\nCollaborate with designers and product managers to deliver new matchmaking, messaging, and user-engagement features.\n\nOptimize application performance, database queries, and caching layers.\n\nIntegrate third-party APIs and internal microservices.\n\nWrite clean, secure, and testable code following modern PHP standards (PSR, OOP, MVC).\n\nParticipate in code reviews and contribute to best-practice engineering culture.\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve production issues.\n\nWork with data teams to implement analytics, user-behavior tracking, A/B testing features, and recommendation logic.\n\nWe value candidates with current PHP experience, but we are also open to developers coming from different web programming backgrounds who are comfortable working with PHP and eager to grow their skills.\nRequirements\n5+ years of professional PHP development experience.\n\nStrong understanding of Laravel, Symfony, or similar modern PHP frameworks.\n\nProficiency with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or similar relational databases.\n\nExperience integrating APIs and working with RESTful services.\n\nFamiliarity with Redis, Memcached, or other caching systems.\n\nUnderstanding of application security, authentication, and user-data protection.\n\nSolid knowledge of Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.\n\nAbility to work in a fast-paced, experiment-driven environment typical of growth-focused startups.\n\nWhile PHP experience is preferred, we welcome candidates with experience in other web technologies who are comfortable working with PHP and committed to building high-quality backend systems.\nNice to Have (not necessary)\nExperience with matchmaking logic, messaging systems, or real-time event-driven architectures.\n\nKnowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).\n\nBackground in high-traffic systems or large-scale consumer applications.\n\nFamiliarity with front-end frameworks (Vue) is a plus.\n\nUnderstanding of user-behavior analytics for dating/social platforms.\n\nInterested?
