We look for genuine curiosity, an openness to new experiences and tools, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving - qualities that help you learn, contribute, and take on increasing responsibility over time.\nThese opportunities for personal and professional growth are maximized through exposure to a wide variety of transportation planning, engineering, and design projects, which may include:\nTransportation planning and analysis: transportation impact studies, bicycle and pedestrian planning, access, circulation and parking studies, multimodal operations, VMT assessments, transportation demand management (TDM), climate action plans, and freight planning.\nTraffic operations, forecasting, and safety: traffic operations analysis, transit forecasting and operations, travel behavior forecasting, systemic safety studies, and highway interchange and corridor studies.\nTransportation design: complete streets, bikeways, signing and striping, traffic signals/ITS, street lighting, roundabouts, temporary traffic control, cost estimates, project specifications, and design drawings from concept through construction-ready documents.\nResponsibilities\nConduct transportation analysis and prepare reports, memos, and other technical deliverables \nParticipate in meetings, including preparing presentations and public outreach materials \nSupport project coordination and management activities \nEngage with professional organizations and industry activities \nConduct site visits and collect field data \nExplore opportunities to contribute to Fehr & Peers internal Research and Development program \nEmbrace opportunities to learn and adopt new tools, technologies, and ways of working that enhance day-to-day work, while maintaining professional judgment, critical thinking, and accountability for results\nWhat Your First Year May Look Like\nBy the end of the first month:\nParticipate in on-the-job training and mentoring \nContribute to several different projects \nSeek additional work from project managers \nBy the end of six months:\nWork on a variety of projects with staff throughout the office \nBuild proficiency with several technical software programs \nPrepare deliverables, including memos, reports, and presentations \nTake on increasing independence and responsibility for your work\nBy the end of the first year:\nParticipate in multiple client meetings \nTake on increased responsibility for coordinating and managing small projects or project tasks\nStart to develop deeper experience in areas that align with project opportunities, your interests, and your growing skills\nQualifications\nWe’re looking for candidates who bring curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative approach to their work. You do not need experience in every topic area or software program listed below-we expect you to continue learning and developing on the job. Experience can come from internships, employment, coursework, research, student organizations, volunteer activities, or other relevant experiences.\nA completed bachelor’s or in-progress master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related field such as geography, math, statistics, or economics.\nRelevant coursework in transportation, engineering, urban and regional planning, geography, math, statistics, economics, or related subjects.
