This role is critical in protecting company assets while supporting sales growth and optimizing return on receivables.\nThe Credit Manager manages daily credit and collection activities in alignment with company policy and assigned authority, balancing risk management with customer support to drive profitable growth and minimize exposure.\nThis position is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts receivable of up to $$20M, requiring strong financial judgment and business partnership.This position is based in Addison, IL, supporting a multi-state territory that includes TheCentral Midwest\nRegular overnight travel within the territory is required. Business travel expenses are fully reimbursed.\nResponsibilities\nEvaluate and approve credit applications, limits, and account changes based on risk analysis\nMonitor customer balances and aging; take action on delinquent accounts\nDevelop and execute effective collection strategies\nReview and manage credit limits and lien rights to protect company interests\nResolve disputes in partnership with sales and customers\nManage bad debt exposure, including recovery efforts and legal escalation when necessary\nEnsure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., UCC, FDCPA, ECOA, liens, bonds, Sarbanes-Oxley)\nPartner with sales teams through regular branch interaction and customer visits\nStructure credit solutions (e.g., joint check agreements) for project-based accounts\nHandle complex, high-risk, or exception accounts beyond standard authority\nLead, coach, and develop credit team members\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Finance or related field preferred\nCredit, Collections, or Accounts Receivable experience (construction industry preferred)\nStrong analytical and decision-making skills with sound business judgment\nExcellent communication and relationship-building abilities\nAbility to manage priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment\nLeadership or team development experience preferred\nSales process understanding\nCredit evaluation and portfolio management\nFinancial Statement Analysis\nCollections strategy and execution\nCustomer and branch relationship management\nSecondary security concepts\nUniform Commercial Code (UCC) fundamentals\nEnterprise and vendor systems proficiency\nAt Ferguson, we care for each other.
