The packaging engineer will lead other packaging related projects related to automation and/or process improvement initiatives. The role ensures packaging designs meet regulatory requirements, function efficiently on manufacturing lines, and support supply chain, quality, and commercial needs. Ferring US is also Great Places to Work® Certified, distinguishing it as one of the best companies to work for in the country.\nResponsibilities:\nLead business critical packaging programs and resolve packaging problems.\nDesign, develop and qualify packaging configurations including cartons, trays, inserts, PLEX cases, and secondary packaging. \nDevelop packaging configuration drawings, specifications, BOMs, and change controls. \nLead packaging process qualifications ensuring new configurations run efficiently on production lines. \nCollaborate with Validation, Packaging Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain. \nConduct line trials, assess machinability, and document qualification results. \nManage vendor interactions including packaging suppliers, printers, and tooling vendors. \nEnsure all packaging meets regulatory and GMP requirements. \nSupport audits, deviations, CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives. \nPrepare and present change controls in change control committee. \nManage and execute change controls for all packaging and production BOM items, including creation, impact assessment, documentation updates, and cross-functional alignment. \nCoordinate project activities from initiation through implementation and closure for other process improvement initiatives, inclusive of creating Project Charters, Project Plans and Schedules, Risk Registers, Budget Tracking Reports and Status Reports \nManage individual improvement projects.\nOther duties as required and assigned by management. \n\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. \n5+ years experience in pharmaceutical or regulated packaging engineering. \nExperience creating packaging designs, drawings, and technical documentation. \nExperience leading packaging qualifications on automated lines. \nFamiliarity with GMP, FDA, and global packaging regulations. \nExperience working with vendors and managing packaging development projects. \nStrong technical packaging knowledge. \nExcellent communication and cross-functional collaboration. \nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills. \nAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously. \nSkilled in CAD or packaging design software \nFlexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as per production schedules \nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, hairnets, and other gowning as required. \nAbility to stand, walk, and move throughout packaging and production areas for extended periods. \nAbility to occasionally lift and/or move materials up to 25 pounds. \nAbility to perform visual inspections of packaging components, including the ability to read small text. \nAbility to support on-the-floor activities \nAbility to access various areas of the facility, including climbing stairs, walking between buildings, or accessing elevated platforms when required. \nAbility to work in environments with varying noise levels\nFerring + you\nAt Ferring, we offer competitive total compensation along with an exceptional range of flexible benefits, personal support and tailored learning and development opportunities all designed to help you realize your full potential both in life and at work. The base salary range for this role is $121,299 to $173,000 which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.\nBenefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees, a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, wellness benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full time employees to accrue up to 120 hours in the first four (4) years of employment, and 160 hours in the fifth (5th) year of employment as well as 15 paid holidays per year.
