This role assists with structural design calculations, plan development, technical documentation, quantity support, design checks, field observations, and coordination tasks while receiving training, guidance, and mentorship from experienced structural design personnel.\nResponsibilities and Duties: \nStructural Design and Plan Production\nAssist with entry-level structural design tasks and plan production for bridges, retaining walls, minor structures, and related civil infrastructure projects.\nSupport basic structural design activities, including preparing and revising design plans, exhibits, layouts, calculations, and technical documentation based on sketches, markups, project specifications, and direction from experienced engineers or design leads.\nAssist with structural design work during Design & Build phases by completing assigned tasks, learning project standards, and supporting design documentation.\nDevelop familiarity with structural design standards, project requirements, construction documents, and applicable design software through guidance, training, and mentorship from experienced structural design personnel. \nDesign Review, Quality Checks, and Technical Support\nAssist with basic reviews of structural design plans, construction documents, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical information prepared by consultants and subconsultants.\nResearch and learn applicable specifications, standards, contract requirements, and project requirements for structural design work shown in project plans.\nSupport quality checks by helping identify comments, inconsistencies, conflicts, or missing information in structural design deliverables and assisting with follow-up documentation as directed.\nProvide basic technical support to project team members by gathering information, reviewing assigned materials, and helping respond to design-related questions under supervision. \nQuantity Support, Documentation, and Submittals\nAssist with quantity support, including helping generate basic quantities and checking quantity information prepared by consultants or subconsultants.\nMaintain organized design files, calculations, quantity backup, technical notes, and supporting documentation in accordance with project and document control requirements. \nSupport the preparation of design submittal materials, technical exhibits, reports, memorandums, and other project documentation as assigned. \nHelp ensure assigned structural design documentation is complete, accurate, organized, and aligned with applicable quality standards and project expectations. \nProject Coordination and Field Support\nSupport assigned deadlines by helping complete structural design tasks, design documentation, and project deliverables in a timely manner. \nAssist with field observation work when necessary and document relevant findings to support structural design and construction coordination. \nCommunicate and coordinate with roadway, drainage, geotechnical, utilities, MOT, construction, consultant, subconsultant, and project teams as needed to support assigned tasks and project deliverables. \nLearn structural design processes, interdisciplinary coordination requirements, project expectations, and applicable quality standards through guidance and mentorship from experienced team members\nOther Duties and Team Support\nAssist with developing creative, practical, and constructible design ideas and solutions with guidance from experienced engineers and design staff.\nParticipate in proactive team efforts to support departmental, project, and company goals.\nDemonstrate hard work, integrity, ethics, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and commitment to high standards.\nPerform other duties as needed related to the scope of work described above. \n\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field required; Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain certification, preferred.\nInternship, co-op, coursework, or entry-level experience in structural engineering, bridge design, civil infrastructure, transportation projects, or related project work preferred.\nFamiliarity with structural design standards, bridge design, retaining wall design, minor structures, construction documents, technical specifications, and related design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, or similar tools.\nAbility to read and interpret drawings, specifications, technical plans, structural calculations, and engineering information while communicating effectively with engineering, construction, consultant, and project teams.\nStrong attention to detail, willingness to learn, problem-solving ability, integrity, work ethic, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis;
