This role is the day to day point of contact for inbound media inquiries and a key contributor to proactive outreach that puts Fervo's story in front of the right audiences.\nThe Senior Communications Specialist, Media and Digital Content supports Fervo’s media relations and digital content efforts under the direction of the Lead - fielding day to day inbound press inquiries, proactively pitching outbound stories, building and maintaining reporter relationships, and preparing first drafts of the press releases and statements that carry Fervo's name. This role manages day to day execution of Fervo’s social media presence, carrying out the voice, content strategy, and editorial calendar set by the Lead across the company’s channels, including its website\nThis role requires someone comfortable operating fast and independently, equally capable of handling a reporter's same-day request and contributing to a proactive media and social calendar weeks out. As a newly public company, Fervo's media and digital presence matters, and this role is expected to exercise sound judgment on what gets said, when and where, and to what audiences. Exemplary writing and storytelling is a must for this role.\nResponsibilities\nMedia Relations\nServe as the primary point of contact for all inbound media inquiries, coordinating responses with the head of communications, agency teams and leadership as needed.\n\nDrive proactive outbound media outreach, pitching stories and securing coverage that supports Fervo’s narrative and builds a positive reputation for the company.\n\nBuild and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and outlets covering energy, climate, and technology.\n\nDraft press releases, holding statements, FAQs and media briefing materials.\n\nTrack and report on media coverage and sentiment.\n\nSocial Media & Digital Channels\nOwn Fervo’s social media channels end to end, including content strategy, calendar, and day-to-day posting.\n\nManage paid social across platforms.\n\nSet and maintain a consistent brand voice across all social platforms.\n\nMonitor social engagement and adjust strategy based on what resonates with Fervo’s audiences.\n\nAlign all editorial content with broader company strategy.\n\nCrisis & Issues Support\nSupport rapid-response communications during breaking news, incidents, or issues affecting Fervo’s reputation.\n\nHelp prepare holding statements and messaging guidance for use across media and social channels.\n\nQualifications\nRequired\n4-8 years of experience in media relations or public relations, in-house or agency.\n\nEstablished relationships with reporters and outlets covering energy, climate, or technology.\n\nExperience drafting high impact communications like news releases, statements and digital content.\n\nExperience owning and growing a company’s social media presence across major platforms.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to move quickly and make sound judgment calls under time pressure.\n\nBachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.\n\nPreferred\nExperience in energy, climate tech, or another regulated industry.\n\nExperience with media monitoring and social analytics tools.\n\nCrisis communications experience.\n\nExperience supporting media relations at a newly public company.\n\nLocation\nFervo Energy is headquartered in Houston, TX, with growing offices in Golden, CO, Reno, NV, Oakland, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT. This position is eligible for some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence at the Houston office is required.
