If you are interested in joining a team of experienced engineers developing advanced powertrain systems, that leverage both conventional combustion engines and electrification to address future performance, fuel economy and emissions requirements, FEV is where you want to be.\nFEV offers interested students the opportunity to work within highly technical engineering teams that are focused on developing the next generation powertrain systems. Each engineering assistant is assigned an experienced engineer as a direct mentor who provides project tasks, training and guidance. The role engages the engineering assistant in powertrain development through testing and data analysis, as well as project team and customer interaction. The engineering assistant will have the opportunity to participate in internal FEV training and team activities. Based on the benefit for the employee to become deeply involved in a customer project and the opportunity to gain more responsibility as their experience grows, FEV prefers an internship duration of six months to one year. Opportunities to expand involvement into calibration or additional development tasks will be provided to high performing and motivated assistants with the consideration for full time hire at the completion of the internship period. Interested candidates can submit resumes through the FEV career link.\nJob Responsibilities:\nSupport test plan creation\nProject progress tracking and reporting\nSupport of measurement equipment calibration and maintenance as well as planningSupport installation and commissioning of new powertrain test setups, including conventional and hybrid configurations\nAssist and interact with operations staff in execution of testing tasks\nData processing and analysis\nSupport customer hardware and project component inventory and logistics\nPrepare internal team and customer presentations\nAbility to support second shift testing if required\nRequirements\nRequire the minimum of a U.S. bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in an Engineering field or other closely related foreign equivalent.\nStrong engineering fundamentals: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer\nBasic understanding of internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems\nSkilled in handling MS-Word, Excel and PowerPoint\nBasic understanding in MS Excel macro or MATLAB scripting\nProfessional communication skills (oral and written)\nMust be a motivated team player to perform in fast paced development environment\nHighly proficient in spoken and written English\nPreferred:\nExperience in engine dynamometer and/or vehicle testing\nExposure to engine calibration\nHands-on experience with engine hardware engine assembly or rebuilding\nKnowledge in US legislation for emissions, fuel economy and OBD\nFamiliarity with regulatory language used in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and/or California Code of Regulations (CCR)\nEqual opportunity employer as to all protected groups, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities","description_format":"text","description_chars":3180,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[{"language":"English","level":"All levels","optional":false}]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Natural Resources","Space & Aerospace","Business Development"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T15:57:49Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":8,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.271,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":71,"expected_fill_days":18,"reasons":["conf:24","win:tail","crowd:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-03T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/fev-engineering-assistant-fallwinter-intern-engine-hybrid-powertrain-development","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/fev-engineering-assistant-fallwinter-intern-engine-hybrid-powertrain-development.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-04T02:22:44Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3380,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":1620,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-05T00:00:00Z"}}}
