The engineer will apply functional safety practices to products in the areas of Electrified Mobility, Intelligent Mobility (ADAS/AD) and Connected Mobility. The engineer will simultaneously be involved in multiple development projects as well as having direct interaction with customers.\nDevelop and maintain a safety plan to meet customer program timing.\nCreate/review Item Definition and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments. \nPerform/review necessary safety analysis (e.g., FTA, FMEA, FMEDA, DFA).\nDerive safety requirements and create functional and technical safety concepts. \nSupport the implementation of safety requirements at hardware and software levels. \nPerform Functional Safety architecture and design reviews at system, hardware , and software level. \nDefine required tests for verification and validation of safety requirements. \nSupport safety reviews, process audits and product functional safety assessments. \nRequirements\nB.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar. \n1-5 years of relevant experience in systems, software, hardware, controls, or automotive engineering. \n1 year of relevant experience in functional safety areas. \nKnowledge of ISO 26262, ISO 21448, or IEC 61508, or similar industry safety standards is required. \nExperienced in functional safety development of complex vehicle electrical systems. \nExperienced in ISO 26262 based processes for risk analysis, safety concept development, and safety analysis methods including FMEA and FTA. \nExperience supporting functional safety activities throughout the product development lifecycle, including HARA, safety analyses (e.g. FTA, FMEA, FMEDA, DFA), safety concept development, requirement engineering, architecture review, and testing.\nDemonstrated ability in interpreting and assessing complex vehicle systems and architectures regarding safety.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience in multiple industries (e.g., automotive, commercial vehicles, off-highway, etc.).\nExperienced with FMEA and FTA tools such as Reliability Work Bench, ANSYS Medini Analyze or similar.\nThe ability to interpret MATLAB/Simulink models and C/C++.\nOrganized project management skills.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills are required.\nProfessional communication skills to be able to present and interact with clients.\nHighly motivated individuals with effective organizational skills and team working abilities.","description_format":"text","description_chars":2624,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":1,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Natural Resources","Space & Aerospace","Business Development"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T15:57:49Z"}],"liveness":{"score":20,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.564,"p_room":0.35,"age_days":29,"expected_fill_days":13,"reasons":["conf:0","win:tail","comp:junior"],"computed_at":"2026-10-02T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/fev-functional-safety-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/fev-functional-safety-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-03T02:14:19Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":2440,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":2560,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-04T00:00:00Z"}}}
