We deliver far more than just on time and on budget-we deliver with MORE Paschen.\nPosition Overview:\nThe Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that employees follow Corporate and project health and safety regulations. The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring, implementing, training, coaching, and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. Additional duties would include using safety research and best practices to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards, documenting accidents in the workplace and investigating the circumstances of an illness or injury.\n Assigned Responsibilities:\nProvide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures\nAdvise the Michigan Office Executive Team Members on safety issues and compliance on specific projects and operations\nAnalyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies in order to institute changes that lead to a safer environment \nUnderstand and enforce OSHA regulations as well as employer and owner rules and regulations on project sites\nReview procedures, regulations, and industry standards applicable to the processes, equipment, materials, and procedures used at the worksite to evaluate whether hazards are present\nReview Michigan accident and illness statistics, highlighting areas that may affect the organization.\nMake an analysis of each phase of each active project to determine what hazards exist in connection with the procedures, processes, materials, and equipment used to perform them. \nConduct regular job site safety inspections of safety construction areas for all Michigan project sites. Document and distribute reports.\nMaintain, promote, and retain employee hazard reporting forms.\nIdentify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions.\nProvide safety orientation for all employees with emphasis on identification, prevention, and control of job hazards.\nIssue various permits (i.e., confined space, hot work) as required\nAssist and prepare site-specific safety plans and other required safety plans.\nProvide training to field staff as needed for the preparation and review of daily job hazard analysis\nProvide input to Corporate Safety Committee for collaboration on safety matters\nProvide assistance and updates to department and project management personnel to ensure compliance with all safety related procedures and policies.\nMentor entry level engineers and other staff to be safety aware.\nPerform additional duties as assigned.\nRequirements\nMinimum 5 years construction safety experience\nKnowledge of current construction and/or industrial safety requirements\nExperience in Heavy and Highway, Water/Wastewater, Infrastructure, and/or Industrial construction.\nThorough understanding and ability to enforce OSHA regulations \nAbility to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective actions \nAbility to investigate/analyze critical situations in a non-emotional manner\nExceptional communication skills, both verbal and written \nMust possess valid Driver’s License \nEducation and Training:\nBachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, HSE, Construction Management, or equivalent experience required\nCSP certification preferred; \nCHST preferred\nOSHA 30 required\n5 years of verifiable safety management or technician experience on construction projects developing safety programs, providing safety orientation, and conducting safety inspections\nPhysical Demands:\nInvolves sitting, walking, stooping, bending, climbing, reaching and lifting.\nWalk jobsites during safety inspections.\nWork Environment:\nWork is performed in the office or field.
