Position Description
:
Oversees the development of new architectural frameworks, evaluation, and enhancement of existing frameworks to support agile feature-development teams. Defines and implements architectural governance to ensure scalable and extendable architecture. Directs and supports development teams through all phases -- from planning and scoping to designing and implementing functional features. Drives adoption of architectural design patterns and engineering best practices across product development initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and methodologies. Participates in quality validation activities for the design, development, and modification of complex software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and assess design outcomes and impacts. Maintains proactive oversight of risks impacting product quality, staffing, and delivery.
Primary Responsibilities:
Sets, communicates, and governs technical standards throughout the product development organization.
Ensures alignment with enterprise architecture policies, standards and patterns.
Influences planning of technical debt as part of product roadmap planning.
Provides vision and leadership for all aspects of establishing and managing the architecture discipline.
Maintains product architecture documentation in accordance with enterprise standards and ensures it remains up to date.
Reviews and ensures accuracy of critical application attributes.
Participates in sprint and system demos for agile teams and recommends areas for improvement.
Develops and oversees software testing, validation, and documentation processes to monitor product quality and identify improvement opportunities early.
Leads and contributes to vendor evaluations.
Education and Experience
:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and developing client-side and server-side Web applications.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Architecture (or closely related occupation) designing and developing client-side and server-side Web applications.
Skills and Knowledge

Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) designing and developing responsive Web applications, using JavaScript MVC frameworks (AngularJS and Angular), client-side technologies (HTML5, CSS and Bootstrap), server-side technologies (Node.js), Azure, AWS Cloud Services, containerizing using Kubernetes, and Web security technologies (OAuth and SAML); and implementing enterprise scalable systems according to Agile methodologies and IDEs (Visual Studio and SSMS) within the financial services industry.
DE designing and architecting scalable software solutions using object-oriented design (OOD) principles; applying SOLID software development principles, including Single Responsibility, Open/Closed, Liskov Substitution, Interface Segregation, and Dependency Inversion; designing and developing application programming interfaces (APIs) using RESTful architectural standards; and implementing established software design patterns, including Model-View-Controller (MVC) and Singleton, to support robust, modular system architecture.
DE designing and engineering data consumption solutions within enterprise data virtualization environments, including TIBCO and Denodo Data Virtualization (DV), by developing and maintaining reusable data services and virtualized data views to support downstream applications and reporting needs; and designing, developing, and optimizing analytical and operational reports using SQL, including writing complex queries, and designing stored procedures and database triggers to enable efficient data access and processing.
DE architecting and delivering enterprise-grade data and analytics solutions by producing comprehensive architecture and design documentation, using industry-standard tools (Confluence and draw.io); and participating in technical design reviews and presenting proposed architectures, data flows, and integration patterns to management for evaluation, governance, and formal approval in alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
