Services Engineering organization, supporting our Brokerage Notification and Messaging Platforms.\nThis leader will drive the design, development and modernization of highly scalable, cloud native, event driven platforms, including our Event Distribution Platform and Fidelity Electronic Notification System (FENS).\nWe are looking for a proven platform builder who has successfully designed and delivered mission critical, high throughput, low latency systems from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on extensibility, resilience, automation and self-service capabilities.\nThe ideal candidate brings deep distributed systems expertise, strong software engineering leadership and hands on design/architectural experience building platforms that process millions of events and deliver reliable, real-time communications at enterprise scale.\nA key focus will be building a configuration driven, self-service event notification platform that enables business and engineering teams to onboard new events, define processing workflows, configure business rules, manage subscriptions and introduce new communication capabilities with minimal custom development.\nThis role will also lead the transformation of legacy mainframe-based event generation and notification capabilities into modern, cloud native architectures supporting millions of Retail and Institutional Brokerage clients.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nPlatform Engineering and Design\nLead the design and development of highly scalable, resilient, low latency event processing and notification platforms. \nDrive design for high TPS, real time event streaming, asynchronous processing, intelligent routing, enrichment and multichannel notification delivery. \nBuild reusable, API driven, configuration-based platform capabilities that support rapid onboarding and extensibility. \nEstablish engineering standards for scalability, performance, high availability, fault tolerance and observability. \nSelf Service, Workflow Automation and AI\nBuild a self-service platform enabling teams to onboard new events, configure business rules, and manage workflows with minimal custom development. \nDesign scalable workflow automation and orchestration capabilities, including conditional routing, API integrations, event transformation, retries and error handling. \nLeverage AI and Generative AI to accelerate event onboarding, workflow creation, rule configuration, testing, and developer productivity. \nExplore AI powered workflow builders, intelligent recommendations, automated validation and operational insights. \nEnsure appropriate governance, explainability, auditability, and human oversight for AI enabled capabilities. \nEngineering Leadership and Operational Excellence\nPartner with engineering executives, architects and product teams to define and execute a multiyear platform strategy. \nLead and develop high performing engineering teams while providing strong technical and design direction. \nOwn platform reliability, scalability, throughput, latency and production stability. \nDrive performance engineering, capacity planning, incident management and continuous improvement. \nCollaborate across business and technology teams to accelerate delivery of new notification capabilities. \nThe Expertise and Skills You Bring\nRequired\n12+ years of software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership experience. \nProven experience designing, building and scaling enterprise platforms from scratch through production adoption. \nStrong hands-on architectural expertise in high TPS, low latency, distributed event processing systems. \nDeep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, microservices, event driven architecture and cloud native technologies, or comparable technologies. \nExperience building self-service, configuration driven, metadata driven, or workflow orchestration platforms. \nStrong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous messaging, API integration, resiliency and scalability. \nWorking knowledge of AI, LLMs and their practical application to engineering automation and platform capabilities. \nStrong communication, stakeholder management and executive leadership skills. \nPreferred\nExperience building large scale event distribution, notification, messaging, or workflow platforms. \nExperience with email, SMS, push notifications, subscriptions and delivery orchestration. \nExperience with mission critical platforms in financial services, brokerage, payments, or other regulated industries. \nFamiliarity with AI agents, Retrieval Augmented Generation(RAG), prompt engineering and spec driven development \nMeasures of Success\nDelivery of a highly scalable, resilient, low latency event notification platform. \nIncreased speed of onboarding new events through self service capabilities.\nSuccessful modernization of legacy notification systems with minimal disruption.\nImproved platform throughput, reliability, operational efficiency and scalability.\nFidelity’s Onsite Working Model\nFidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
