Your first priority will be LodeStar, our AI design platform: you will make sure it is secure, reliable and ready to support client-facing service commitments as it grows from an internal tool into a product.\nAlongside LodeStar, you will own DevOps for Fidus, including our Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket), and help engineering teams across the company work more effectively through better tooling, workflows and automation. This is a hands-on senior role where you will work closely with the LodeStar build and product leads and with engineering teams across Fidus.\nAbout LodeStar\nLodeStar turns Fidus’s engineering design history into a searchable, human-in-the-loop system that helps our designers find parts, check schematics and, over time, generate design building blocks. It runs mainly on Azure, with some automation on on-premise Jenkins servers.\nMake an Impact with US:\nAt Fidus, you'll work on high-speed, high-complexity electronic systems, often using emerging technologies before they reach the broader market. You'll collaborate across FPGA/DSP, hardware, embedded software, verification, SI/PI, PCB layout, and mechanical/thermal design as part of cross-functional teams delivering real products for our clients.\nIn practice, that means contributing to projects across Communications, Aerospace & Defence, Life Sciences and Medical Devices, Space and Satellite, Industrial Automation, Automotive, and Semiconductor engagements. You won't be limited to a single product or industry-your work will follow the technology, not just one roadmap.\nRequirements\nWhat you will do\nLodeStar platform\nDesign, build and run LodeStar’s Azure infrastructure using Terraform(or similar), with separate development, test and production environments. \nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions and Jenkins, including automated testing, approval gates and rollback. \nRun PostgreSQL in production, including backups, regular restore testing and performance tuning. \nMonitor availability and performance, lead incident response, and define and report on service level objectives. \nSecure the platform with Entra ID, least-privilege access, Key Vault and private networking, working with IT & Security on export-control and CMMC requirements. \nManage the infrastructure behind LodeStar’s AI services, including model API access, usage and cost. \nFidus DevOps and IT\nOwn administration of Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket, including access, permissions, single sign-on, licensing, apps, upgrades and backups. \nWork with engineering, project management and operations teams to improve Jira workflows, automation, dashboards and reporting. \nKeep Confluence organized and easy to use, with a clear space structure, templates and permissions. \nSet and support DevOps standards across Fidus, including source control, branching and CI/CD practices. \nContribute as a member of the IT team, including change management, security reviews and shared on-call. \nWhat you bring\n5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps or site reliability engineering, including at least 2 years supporting production workloads on Azure. \nStrong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code. \nExperience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Jenkins, and working with containers (Docker, Azure Container Apps or AKS). \nExperience administering Jira and Confluence, including workflow design, automation and permissions. \nProduction experience with PostgreSQL or a similar relational database. \nSolid Linux administration and networking skills, including hybrid on-premise and cloud environments. \nWorking knowledge of cloud security and identity management. \nScripting skills in Python or Bash. \nExperience with on-call support and incident management. \nClear communication with both technical and non-technical colleagues. \nNice to have\nExperience operating AI or LLM-based applications. \nExperience in regulated environments such as CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, export controls or Canada’s Controlled Goods Program. \nMicrosoft Azure (AZ-104, AZ-400 or AZ-500), HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Atlassian certifications. \nExperience at an engineering services or electronics design company. \nHow we work\nYou will be part of a small, collaborative team with regular standups and async communication on Teams. The role is remote, with occasional travel to Ottawa, and includes business-hours on-call on a shared rotation.\nEligibility\nThis role involves access to systems that may hold export-controlled technical data. Candidates must be eligible for Fidus’s export-control screening and, in Canada, a Controlled Goods Program security assessment.\nBenefits\nThis role is being posted to fill an existing vacancy.\nAnnual base salary ranges from $120,000 to $155,000 CAD.
