In June, Ofgem selected 16 long-duration energy storage projects to progress to delivery - Field was awarded 5 of them. Collectively, these projects represent roughly double the MWh capacity of all battery storage installed in the UK to date. Field currently has 4 projects, totalling over 1GWh, in construction in GB, with plenty more delivery ahead. Field also has 6 operational projects across GB and Germany.\n\nField is exploring novel technologies too, drawing on its development experience to capitalise on global trends.\n\nExceptional talent is what makes all of this possible.\nKey Responsibilities\nYour Mission\nAs a Grid Lead, you will have responsibility across Field's GB Development portfolio - from origination through to pre-construction. You'll be a go-to expert for electrical and grid queries across the business; feeding directly into design during early development, managing relationships with NESO and Transmission Owners, leading early-stage grid compliance work and shaping the company's stance on grid compliance across the whole portfolio.\n\nThis is a highly technical, highly autonomous role. You'll combine deep power systems and grid connection expertise with commercial judgement. It's also a collaborative role, working closely with the Origination team, Development Project Managers and Project Engineers.\n\nIf you're looking for an exciting role, working on a secured portfolio of real, transmission-scale projects and helping define how Field continues to develop in the grid connections space, this is it. Our projects are large-scale, high-value and at the forefront of the energy transition.\nWhat you’ll be doing\n\nManagement of grid connections for origination and development projects and novel technologies, including:\nUnderstanding the grid-related opportunities and risks of each development project;\nProviding electrical design expertise during early project development;\nPreparation of single line diagrams (SLDs) and general arrangement drawings;\nManagement of grid connection applications, from application through to acceptance and modifications; and\nStakeholder engagement with NESO and the relevant Transmission Owners (TOs).\n\nIndustry intelligence and pipeline strategy, including:\nSharing key industry developments in grid connections - including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications - with the wider business, and making recommendations to directly shape the GB pipeline;\nMaintaining expert knowledge of the existing and future GB electricity network; and\nKeeping abreast of developments in the grid landscape to spot opportunities for what to develop next, and where, and advising the wider business accordingly.\n\nPower systems engineering expertise and grid compliance for pre-construction projects, including:\nOversee the procurement of early stage grid compliance studies to feed directly into site designs;\nOwnership of the early G99 and ONCC connection application processes, including P28 and G5/5 reports to inform the final project design for procurement; \nActing as the go-to contact for Project Managers, providing recommendations based on the impact of grid issues on budgets and programme; and \nOn-going liaison with TOs and NESO to resolve issues as they arise. \nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n The skills you’ll need\nElectrical Engineering degree (or equivalent) with 6+ years’ experience within a grid connections, power systems or electrical engineering role in BESS, power generation or a related infrastructure sector; \nA sense of entrepreneurialism, strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of transmission grid connections and wider project development lifecycles; \nStrong working knowledge of the G99 and ONCC connection application processes, confidence reviewing P28 and G5/5 reports, and familiarity with Grid Code\nProven ability to build and cultivate productive working relationships with NESO and TO representatives\nUp to date knowledge of grid-related industry developments, including Connections Reform and CUSC modifications\nExcellent communication skills.
