We’re looking for a Mapping Solution Engineer who can bring our 3D mapping solutions to life by owning deployment, integration, and ongoing performance in the field.\nThis role sits at the intersection of robotics engineering, customer delivery, and technical problem-solving. You’ll work hands-on with 3D mapping systems, robots, sensors, and customer environments to ensure successful deployments while continuously improving reliability through field feedback.\nYou’ll collaborate closely with software engineers, robotics teams, operations, and customers to deliver mapping solutions that operate in large-scale, unstructured environments. Develop and Deploy 3D Mapping Solutions\nDesign, develop, and maintain production-grade software for 3D mapping applications.\nDeploy large-scale mapping systems and data processing pipelines into real-world environments.\nValidate mapping systems and algorithms through testing on robots, sensors, and field deployments.\nBuild internal tooling, automation, and benchmarking infrastructure to improve reliability, performance, and repeatability.\nTroubleshoot and optimize mapping workflows across software, hardware, and data pipelines.\n2. Own Solution Delivery and Field Deployment\nLead end-to-end delivery of mapping data products, including data capture, processing, quality validation, and customer handoff.\nSupport on-site and remote deployments, ensuring systems are operational and performing as expected.\nConduct technical demonstrations, pilots, and evaluations for prospective and existing customers.\nPartner with internal engineering teams and customers to identify issues, gather feedback, and drive improvements.\nDevelop scalable deployment processes, documentation, and best practices to improve future rollouts.\n3. Bridge Field Operations and Engineering\nTranslate real-world deployment challenges into actionable technical improvements.\nAnalyze field data and system performance to improve mapping reliability and customer outcomes.\nWork across robotics, software, operations, and customer teams to solve complex technical challenges.\nSupport mission-critical robotic deployments in dynamic and unpredictable environments.\nWhat You Have\nMaster’s degree or higher in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Geomatics, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).\n2+ years of experience in robotics software development, 3D mapping, systems integration, or field deployment of complex technical systems.\nStrong programming skills in C++ and Python with experience writing production-quality software.\nExperience with 3D geometry, point cloud processing, and algorithms such as ICP and NDT.\nFamiliarity with point cloud libraries and tools such as PCL or Open3D.\nExperience working with LiDAR systems and 3D data formats including PCD, PLY, E57, or LAS.\nFamiliarity with ROS, Git, and Linux/Ubuntu-based development environments.\nStrong debugging and troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and networking systems.\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.\nWillingness to travel and work on-site with customers as needed.\nThe Extras That Set You Apart\nExperience with geospatial data, georeferencing, coordinate systems, survey control, or calibration workflows.\nExperience deploying and maintaining mission-critical robotics or autonomous systems in real-world environments.\nFamiliarity with point cloud and survey software such as CloudCompare, Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, or Trimble RealWorks.\nExperience working directly with customers in high-stakes technical environments.\nExperience with project management tools such as Jira, Wrike, or Confluence.\nBackground in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or field robotics.\nExperience working at a startup or high-growth company with a strong ownership mindset.\nWhy Join Field AI?\nWe are solving one of the world’s most complex challenges: deploying intelligent robots in unstructured, previously unknown environments.
