If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.\nAbout the Role\nFieldguide is looking for an Accounting Manager to help run and scale our accounting function as the company grows. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this person will be a hands-on owner of the monthly close and several core accounting areas, while helping us build more efficient, automated, and scalable processes. This is a good fit for someone who has worked in a startup environment, can independently work through unfamiliar problems, and is excited about using modern systems and AI to improve how accounting work gets done.\nWhat You’ll Do\nOwn significant areas of the monthly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting.\n\nManage accounting for key areas such as revenue, accounts receivable, payroll, commissions, operating expenses, prepaids, and fixed assets.\n\nReview contracts and business activities to identify and resolve accounting implications.\n\nOwn and continuously improve accounting workflows in Rillet and other tools within our finance technology stack.\n\nBuild processes and controls that improve accuracy without creating unnecessary complexity.\n\nUse AI and automation to reduce manual work and improve the speed and quality of the close.\n\nPartner with Strategic Finance and teams across the company to ensure transactions are recorded correctly and issues are addressed early.\n\nSupport the annual audit, tax filings, and other compliance requirements.\n\nTake ownership of new accounting projects as the company and our products continue to evolve.\n\nWho You Are\n5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including experience at a high-growth startup or SaaS company.\n\nStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience managing a monthly close.\n\nExperience with revenue recognition and other accounting issues common to subscription software businesses.\n\nA track record of independently researching problems, developing a point of view, and driving issues to resolution.\n\nStrong critical-thinking skills and the ability to identify when a process, transaction, or result does not make sense.\n\nComfort operating in an environment where processes may still need to be created or improved.\n\nExperience using AI tools in day-to-day work and curiosity about how they can improve accounting operations.\n\nClear communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.\n\nBonus Points\nExperience with Rillet.\n\nCPA and/or public accounting experience.\n\nExperience improving or automating accounting processes in a scaling organization.\n\nMore about Fieldguide\nFieldguide is a values-based company.
