Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.\nWe're looking for a backend engineer to build the services and infrastructure behind Figure's consumer mobile application, including auth, payments, and tooling.\nYou'll own systems end to end, from identity and billing to delivery pipelines, internal dashboards, and the cloud platform they run on.\nResponsibilities: \nDesign and build the core auth and identity service, including KYC integration.\n\nBuild payments and billing infrastructure: payouts, transactions, disputes, and reconciliation.\n\nOwn the media ingestion and delivery pipeline for high-volume data ingestion.\n\nOwn the cloud platform: environments, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, and cost.\n\nShip the notification system across push, SMS, and email.\n\nBuild the web interface and dashboards that give the business visibility into tasks, supply, and quality.\n\nRequirements: \n5+ years building production backend systems at scale.\n\nStrong distributed systems fundamentals: APIs, queues, storage, and event-driven architecture.\n\nHands-on experience with payments, billing, or fintech infrastructure.\n\nHands-on infrastructure experience: AWS or GCP, Terraform or similar, containers, and CI/CD.\n\nProficiency in Go, Python, or similar.\n\nExperience shipping systems that move real money for real users, with the reliability bar that implies.\n\nBonus Qualifications:\nMarketplace or gig platform experience (Uber, TaskRabbit, DoorDash, or similar).\n\nFintech background (Square, Stripe, DailyPay, or similar).\n\nExperience with media storage and processing pipelines at scale.\n\nExperience as the first or only infrastructure owner on a small team.\n\nThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000 - $400,000 per year. \nThe pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
