Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.\nWe are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Winter 2027 to support the design, build, and testing of prototype hardware across our integration and test teams. This internship is designed for students in their final year of an undergraduate or master’s program, as well as recent graduates who are on track to complete their degree by the end of 2026, or the following year.\nResponsibilities:\nDesign, build, and test prototype mechanical fixtures to validate robot hardware.\nDevelop drivelines and test stands for actuator integration and validation.\nSupport electromechanical integration with components such as sensors and motors.\nGenerate accurate 2D drawings using GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to ensure tight tolerances and proper fits.\nCollaborate with mechanical engineering and systems integration teams on hands-on testing.\nRequirements:\nPortfolio or website showcasing relevant projects and your role.\nPursuing a degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field, with at least two years completed by the start of the internship.\nExperience with 3D CAD software for designing complex geometry.\nBackground in designing, building, and testing mechanical prototypes.\nStrong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with hardware projects.\nAbility to write and maintain clean documentation throughout the design process.\nPassion for robotics and hardware development.\nBonus Qualifications:\nExperience with CATIA V6.\nFamiliarity with manufacturing processes and first article inspection.\nExposure to sensors, motors, or electromechanical systems.\nExperience with FEA, simulation tools, or basic programming (Python, MATLAB).\nThe US base pay range for this full-time position is $40.00 to $45.00 per hour.\nThe pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role.
