Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.\nJob Summary:\nAssists in providing system and components design, investigation, experimentation, analysis, documentation,and reporting. Work may result in new or improved systems, products, devices, components, and processes. Assists in performing aspects of engineering projects from planning through implementation. Works with assistance from more experienced co-workers. Primary focus of this position is learning the professional responsibilities of a mechanical engineer.\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nWith assistance from other mechanical engineers, analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal for manufacturability.\nAssisting and/or learning about test equipment designs and how to write test procedures to appropriately verify that all production assemblies meet Fike specifications.\nConfers with research engineers, sales, quality, and manufacturing to clarify and/or resolve problems\nAssists with preparation of product or system layout drawings including details and schematics.\nAssists with maintaining and modifying current products to meet customer needs.\nAssists in coordinating activities with appropriate approval agencies to ensure compliance of new products with industry standards.\nMay assist with coordination of completion of all documentation required to produce new products including creation of assembly drawings, creation of bills of materials and routing in the Fike business system, and any other documentation required.\nMay evaluate engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.\nConfers with research and other engineering, quality, manufacturing, and sales personnel and may prepare design modifications as required.\nUses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering design tasks.\nStudies ASME, ANSI, MIL, AISI, IFI, NACE, API, AWS and NFPA standards. Applies these standards as appropriate to new designs.\nMaintains the confidentiality of all information processed.\nProvides a formal presentation to executive management at the end of the defined Co-Op term detailing accomplishments, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement of the Mechanical Engineering Co-Op program.\nPerforms related duties as assigned.
