This role coordinates work assignments, helps resolve issues, and works closely with the Production Supervisor to keep the shift running safely, efficiently, and in line with quality expectations.\nResponsibilities\nEssential Duties Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.\nDemonstrates strong leadership in all areas including safety, quality, interpersonal skills, business conduct, and equipment operation.\nKnowledge to support the set-up and operation of designated equipment\nIsolates the cause of malfunctions or failures and recommends solutions. Works with Engineering and Maintenance as needed.\nResponsible for providing effective training in the operation in accordance with Company training policies and practices.\nChecks equipment to determine accuracy of adjustment and alignment.\nMaintains work area in a manner acceptable to the Company.\nResponsible for operator assessment to ensure that work in process quality checks are being performed according to work instructions.\nParticipates with Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering in establishment of preventative maintenance, repair procedures, and spare parts requirements on all equipment.\nSupports complaint investigation, root cause analysis and corrective actions.\nPrevents defects and possible defects in workmanship, thus reducing scrap.\nNotifies supervisor of impending shortages and any problems with material.\nMaintains all necessary production recording and shop order accuracy, including performance measurement.\nLoads and unloads materials to and from machines as required for production.\nLeads team problems solving sessions to eliminate the root cause of variances and to implement continuous improvement.\nMonitors work practices in the department to ensure that Company rules and policies are being followed. \nResponsible for the effective use of resources, time, materials and equipment.\nResponsible for evaluating customer complaints and developing the root cause and corrective action.\nMaintains effective lines of communication with Production Shift Leader, other Team Leaders, and other departments as appropriate.\nQualifications\nSkills & Qualifications\nA minimum of 2 years of machine operation experience\nSupervisory/managerial experience preferred\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred\nStrong mechanical aptitude for production equipment and comfortable with using hand tools\nUnderstanding of LEAN manufacturing principles\nStrong Mathematical aptitude\nAbility to mentor and lead peers and reports\nAttention to detail\nStrong work ethic\nGood organizational skills\nAbility to manage change\nAbility to manage priorities and meet deadlines\nGood analytical skills\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nOversee and lead assigned department personnel and additional support individuals as directed.\nPhysical Demands/Work Environment\nMust be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours\nMust be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members\nFrequently climbs ladders to fill hoppers\nFrequently lift objects up to 25lbs; Occasionally lift or move objects up to 50lbs\nCompetent with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint\nNormal manufacturing conditions requiring safety observation at all times.\nOther Duties\nPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the position.
