We are looking for a practical and technically minded Engineering Technician to join our engineering team based at the Cambridge Science Park in the beautiful city of Cambridge.\nThis is a varied, hands-on role supporting RF, electronics and mechanical development, with the opportunity to develop a broad range of technical skills. Working alongside RF, electronics, software and mechanical engineers, you will help turn designs into working prototypes and reliable test setups for telecommunications, space and defence applications.\nThe role is predominantly laboratory and workshop based and will provide practical engineering support across the development, assembly and testing of high-performance products.\nYou will support a range of engineering activities, including:\n Setting up and carrying out RF and electronic measurements. \n Operating test and measurement equipment including network analysers, signal generators, power meters and oscilloscopes. \n Connecting laboratory instruments to PCs using Ethernet, USB, GPIB and serial interfaces. \n Running and making simple changes to Python scripts used for automated testing and data collection. \n Supporting soldering, PCB rework, prototype fault-finding and component replacement. \n Manufacturing cables, RF cable assemblies and electrical wiring harnesses. \n Assembling mechanical parts, enclosures and complete prototype units. \n Producing simple components, fixtures and test jigs using 3D printing and CNC equipment. \n Maintaining laboratory tools, equipment and components. \n Recording test results accurately and maintaining appropriate engineering records. \n Working with engineers to resolve practical engineering problems and support the progression of designs from prototype through to production. \nRequirements\nWhat are we looking for?\nWe are looking for someone with practical engineering experience and an interest in working across different technical disciplines.
