Our products and solutions support customers operating in the space, aerospace, defence, telecommunications and critical infrastructure markets.\nWe are an award-winning, AIM-listed business with ambitious growth plans, and we continue to invest in our people, technology and facilities to support our expanding customer base.\nWe are looking to recruit a Software Development Engineer to join our team in Sedgefield.\nThe role will involve developing and maintaining Filtronic's in-house Manufacturing and Reporting System, as well as creating new applications, reporting tools, KPI dashboards, databases and API integrations.\nWorking closely with colleagues in manufacturing, engineering and quality, you will help develop and improve the software systems used to support our day-to-day operations. You will also work with colleagues across our UK, USA and China sites.\nThis is a varied role offering the opportunity to work on existing systems as well as new development projects, within a supportive team where there is scope to build on your technical knowledge and experience.\nKey Responsibilities\nDevelop and maintain existing in-house software and manufacturing systems.\nDesign and develop new applications, reporting tools, KPI dashboards, databases and API integrations.\nWork with manufacturing, engineering and quality teams to understand their requirements and develop appropriate solutions.\nInvestigate, diagnose and resolve software and technical issues.\nDevelop automated reporting tools to support business operations.\nBe involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and design through to implementation, testing and ongoing support.\nTake part in code reviews and share knowledge with other members of the software team.\nPrepare technical documentation, specifications and user instructions.\nOrganise and manage your workload to meet project deadlines.\nKeep colleagues and the team leader informed of project progress and any issues or risks.\nRequirements\nYou will have a background in software development, with good problem-solving skills and the ability to work with colleagues across different areas of the business.\nIdeally, you will have:\nA degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification, or relevant practical experience in software development.\nExperience or a good working knowledge of C#, ASP.NET and T-SQL / Microsoft SQL Server.\nSome knowledge of CSS and JavaScript.\nExperience of troubleshooting SQL statements and resolving technical issues.\nGood analytical and problem-solving skills.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nA self-motivated approach and a willingness to take responsibility for your work.\nThe ability to organise your workload and manage competing priorities.\nA flexible approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.\nWhy Join Filtronic?\nFiltronic is an established technology business with a growing order book and exciting opportunities ahead.
