Transforming knowledge into a strategic resource is our company mission, and we pursue it with the help of our most strategic asset: our people.\nFincons is looking for a Backend Software Engineer - Senior\nTASKS:\nEnhancement and maintenance of the OS-LISFLOOD suite, including performance optimization, repository management, input data preparation, user support, and documentation updates.\nManagement and quality control of meteorological data for EFAS and GloFAS, covering data collection, extraction, analysis, gridding, and validation processes.\nSupport to the CEMS Meteorological Data Collection Center, including deliverable review, quality assurance improvements, and technical documentation development.\nMaintenance and development of geospatial databases for EFAS and GloFAS, including system updates, security enhancements, WFS implementation, and new feature development.\nTechnical documentation, stakeholder collaboration, and communication of results to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nPython development and maintenance of modular scientific software, including code testing and enhancement of open-source solutions.\nHydrological and scientific computing expertise, using OS LISFLOOD tools and libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Xarray, SciPy, scikit-learn and Numba.\nManagement and processing of geospatial and scientific data, including formats such as NetCDF, GRIB, PCRaster and GeoTIFF.\nDatabase and GIS technologies, including PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle, MS SQL Server, WISKI and basic GIS knowledge.\nContainerized and scalable environments, leveraging Docker, Kubernetes and High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructures.\nSoftware development and operations tools, including Git, DVC, issue-tracking systems, and advanced Linux/Windows administration.\nSKILLS:\nAbility to deliver high-quality technical work efficiently and to agreed standards and timelines.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate and resolve complex technical and computational issues.\nAbility to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies, including developments in scientific computing and data-intensive workflows\nDrive to explore and evaluate new algorithms, frameworks and methods, and assess their applicability to scientific modelling and data-processing challenges\nAbility to work in parallel on multiple tasks\nVery good communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and to participate constructively in technical meetings.\nAbility to produce clear, structured and accurate technical documentation.\nAbility to work in a team as well as autonomously\nLanguage knowledge: English B2+\nOffice: Ispra, Italy. Near-site service provision with full time on-site presence, with occasional remote service provision (home-working) upon mutual agreement between customer and contractor.
