We build application software and features for the FINEOS AdminSuite, together with the infrastructure, frameworks, tooling, and technology that support FINEOS applications and our cloud-hosting service.\nThis role sits within a team dedicated to AI-powered capabilities for the FINEOS AdminSuite, and the frameworks and tooling that support them.\nAs a Senior Software Engineer on the team, you are a key contributor in design, implementation, testing, and quality. On any given day, you will design and review services and cloud architecture, optimize our approach to software quality and infrastructure, and work with our other teams to better understand our users' problems and deliver solutions. This Senior Software Engineer role provides you the opportunity to broaden your software development, technical architecture, and leadership skills. In this role you will work in a Platform team committed to delivering quality software for our internal and external customers around the globe.\nResponsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)\nYou will build software using the latest technologies that are used by FINEOS' engineering teams.\nYou will design and develop software to support the FINEOS AdminSuite and the AI-powered products that extend it.\nParticipate in the full software development lifecycle, technical analysis and design, development and unit test phases including internal infrastructure right through to cloud delivery.\nBuild and integrate AI capabilities - such as document extraction, summarisation, evidence evaluation, and case review - into reliable production services, accounting for the probabilistic nature of model outputs.\nYou will get exposure to the latest cloud and AI technologies.\nYou will provide guidance on best practices and participate in peer review of designs, code, and tests.\nCollaborate with data science on model selection, prompt engineering, and bias/governance evaluation where applicable.\nPromote and live the FINEOS values and increase positive relations with team, customers, prospects, and partners.\nInteract with internal and external customers of the organisation, to clarify requirements, design and develop solutions.\nIdentify, deliver and drive improvements and innovations within the development area.\nCompile and review estimates around all technical aspects of a solution.\nEnsure all aspects of good design and construction are delivered, including:Performance, scalability and security.\nModularity, interoperability and upgradability.\nWork with peers within the client organization to ensure a successful delivery.\n\nProvide detailed planning and tracking information to Scrum Masters, Development leads and Project management.\nEducation and/or Experience\nMinimum of 5+ years post qualification experience in a software engineering role with exposure to the full SDLC, preferably on enterprise scale systems.\nA relevant third level qualification (BS/MS) or equivalent commercial experience.\nProven excellent technical problem-solving capabilities.\nKnowledge, Skills and Abilities\nMust be able to work with minimal supervision, relied upon for critical tasks and accept leadership roles when called upon to do so.\nExcellent collaboration, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills (both written and verbal).\nExperience working as a part of a cross-functional team covering all aspects of software SDLC (implementation, testing, deployment).\nExposure to code analysis such as Sonar, PMD/FindBugs would be an advantage.\nExperience working within an Agile environment highly desirable.\nAwareness of AI-specific concerns - non-deterministic outputs, prompt sensitivity, safety, privacy, bias, and AI governance - would be an advantage.\nCommitted to creating readable, reliable, and maintainable code and come up to speed quickly on new technologies.\nTechnical Skills\nYou must have strong coding skills (Java, Python, Node JS/TypeScript) and be familiar with Object-Oriented programming and application of design patterns.\nProficiencies with some or all of the following: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, React, JSON.\nYou have proven experience designing for and working with Amazon Web Services or another Cloud Platform.\nAWS automation experience (CodeCommit, CodePipeline, Lambda, API Gateway, VPC Networking, EC2, ELB).\nYou have development experience with several AWS services such as CloudWatch EventBridge, Step Functions, Lambda functions, SQS, S3, and IAM roles/policies.\nExperience/exposure to AWS GenAI and document services (e.g. Bedrock, Textract) would be an advantage.\nExperience with building API services (REST/etc).\nAbility to prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.\nSolid foundation of QA methodology, testing techniques, frameworks, and approaches.\nYou have experience in the design and architecting of solutions for internal and existing client facing hosted applications as they are moved into cloud environments such as AWS.\nExperience mentoring junior members of the team to contribute to solutions and produce high quality code.\nInfrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, CloudFormation, Terraform, Boto) would be an advantage.\nYou have experience with RDBMS and/or NoSQL datastores (e.g. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).\nExposure to Continuous Integration and build automation tools with proficiency in some or all of the following: Gradle, Git, Jenkins, CDK, CodePipeline/CodeBuild.\nConfiguration Management experience (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) would be an advantage.\nMulti-platform skills (Linux/Unix/Windows) would be an advantage.\nLanguage Skills\nProficient in written and spoken English.\nTravel Requirements\nThis position does not require travel.\nLocation\nRemote -
