We nurture smart people who bring out the best in themselves, their peers, and their clients.\n\nAbout The Role\n\nWe are looking for a Hybrid Backend & Data Infrastructure Engineer to architect and scale the backend services and high-throughput data platforms that power our core products and analytical insights.\n\nIn this role, you will bridge the gap between software engineering, distributed systems, and data infrastructure. You will design high-performance microservices and APIs, orchestrate complex streaming and batch pipelines, automate cloud-native infrastructure, and solve hard distributed-systems challenges—such as multi-replica race conditions, state synchronization, and sub-second data processing.\n\nKey Roles & Responsibilities\n\nBackend & Microservices Engineering\nArchitect, build, and deploy low-latency, scalable APIs and microservices using modern Python (FastAPI, FastMCP, uv).\nIntegrate foundational AI/LLM models and external services (e.g., AWS Bedrock).\nDefine resilient service interfaces, API schemas, and data contracts between internal engineering teams.\nDistributed Systems & Concurrency Management\nDesign robust state-management patterns to handle high-concurrency race conditions across worker pools, message queues, and database rows.\nImplement distributed synchronization mechanisms (e.g., distributed locks/mutexes, idempotency keys, and optimistic/pessimistic locking strategies).\nEnsure reliable execution, deduplication, and zero-data-loss guarantees across asynchronous task workers.\nData Infrastructure & Orchestration\nDevelop and maintain scalable job orchestration workflows for streaming and batch processing using Celery, Dagster, or Apache Airflow.\nDesign, optimize, and maintain relational datastores (PostgreSQL) and in-memory caches (Redis).\nBuild modern analytical pipelines and data storage layers leveraging Lakehouse architectures (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake) and Change Data Capture (CDC) patterns.\nEnforce end-to-end data quality, governance, schema evolution, and lineage across platforms.\nCloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes & CI/CD\nOwn, automate, and maintain cloud environments on AWS using Infrastructure-as-Code (CDKTF / Terraform).\nContainerize services with Docker and manage deployments, auto-scaling (HPA), and load-balancing on Kubernetes (k8s) using Helm.\nBuild, maintain, and optimize secure GitHub Actions CI/CD deployment pipelines.\nObservability & Reliability Engineering\nEnsure production uptime, high availability, and performance SLA/SLO benchmarks.\nBuild deep observability, tracing, and alerting stacks across all microservices and data pipelines using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.\n\nRequired Qualifications & Experience\n\n5+ years of experience building and operating production backend services, distributed systems, or large-scale data platforms.\nExpertise in Python: Deep proficiency in the modern Python ecosystem (FastAPI, uv, async I/O, typing).\nDatabase & Caching Mastery: Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL (query optimization, ACID transactions, locking mechanisms, indexing) and Redis (caching strategies, pub/sub, distributed locks).\nContainer & Cloud Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (k8s), Docker, Helm, and AWS cloud architecture.\nInfrastructure-as-Code (IaC): Proven track record with CDKTF (Cloud Development Kit for Terraform) or Terraform.\nWorkflow Orchestration: Production experience with pipeline orchestrators such as Dagster, Celery, or Apache Airflow.\nObservability: Practical experience instrumenting systems with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.\nDistributed Systems Fundamentals: Clear understanding of race conditions, deadlocks, consensus primitives, and message-queue semantics.\n\nGood To Have\n\nExperience with Lakehouse architectures (Apache Iceberg, Delta Lake) and CDC (Change Data Capture) via Debezium/Kafka.\nExposure to MLOps workflows (MLflow, Feature Stores, embedding pipelines).\nFamiliarity with consensus protocols and distributed coordination systems (Raft, Paxos, ZooKeeper, etcd).\nFrontend familiarity with React, TypeScript, or Tailwind CSS.\nActive contributions to open-source software.\n\nMore Information\n\n Experience 5 -
