This role is responsible for overseeing fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, technical accounting research, balance sheet integrity, and compliance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards. The position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate accounting and reporting of capital expenditures, fixed assets, and lease arrangements while supporting strategic initiatives across the organization.\nThe ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting expertise, particularly in IFRS lease accounting, fixed asset management, and financial reporting. The individual will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, and Finance teams to monitor capital projects, ensure timely capitalization of assets, maintain asset inventories, and support an effective control environment.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nTechnical Accounting & Financial Reporting\nServe as the subject matter expert on IFRS and other applicable accounting standards. \nResearch, interpret, and document accounting conclusions for complex transactions and business initiatives. \nPrepare technical accounting memorandums and policy documentation. \nSupport the implementation of new accounting standards and accounting policies. \nAssist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements. \nProvide technical guidance and recommendations to finance and business stakeholders. \nPlay a major role in period close. \nLease Accounting\nManage all aspects of lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 and company policies. \nReview contracts to identify lease components and determine appropriate accounting treatment. \nPrepare lease calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules. \nMonitor lease modifications, renewals, reassessments, and terminations. \nEnsure completeness and accuracy of lease-related disclosures and reporting. \nMaintain lease accounting records and associated documentation.\nPost monthly lease payments, interest, loan amortization, lease depreciation \nFixed Asset Accounting & Oversight\nOversee the full fixed asset lifecycle, including asset capitalization, depreciation, transfers, impairments, and disposals. \nEnsure capitalization policies are consistently applied across the organization. \nReview capital expenditures to determine appropriate asset classification and accounting treatment. \nMaintain the fixed asset subledger and related accounting records. \nAnalyze capital projects to ensure timely placement of assets into service and commencement of depreciation. \nSupport month-end and year-end close activities related to fixed assets. \nPost monthly depreciation \nAsset Inventory & Capital Project Management\nCoordinate and oversee periodic physical fixed asset inventories. \nReconcile physical asset records to accounting records and investigate discrepancies. \nPartner with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Procurement, and Project Management teams to track capital projects from initiation through completion. \nDevelop processes and controls to ensure capital projects are accurately tracked and recorded. \nMonitor construction-in-progress (CIP) balances and ensure timely transfers to fixed assets when projects are placed into service. \nIdentify opportunities to improve asset tracking and reporting processes. \nBalance Sheet Reconciliations & Controls\nPrepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for fixed assets, leases, accrued capital expenditures, and related accounts. \nInvestigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. \nEnsure compliance with internal control requirements and corporate accounting policies. \nSupport internal and external audit requests and provide required documentation. \nAssist in strengthening accounting processes and internal controls. \nLeadership & Business Partnership\nAct as a key resource and trusted advisor to the Accounting Manager. \nSupport departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects. \nMentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on technical accounting matters. \nCollaborate cross-functionally to improve financial accuracy, reporting, and decision-making. \nDrive continuous improvement initiatives related to fixed assets, lease accounting, and financial close processes. \nEducation\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. \nExperience\nMinimum 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience. \nStrong experience with IFRS financial reporting and technical accounting. \nSignificant experience of accounting for leases under IFRS 16. \nExtensive fixed asset accounting and capital project experience. \nExperience managing construction-in-progress and capitalization processes. \nExperience performing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting audits. \nExperience within a manufacturing, industrial, or asset-intensive environment preferred. \nTechnical Skills\nDynamics D365 F&O & Excel experience a plus \nAdvanced knowledge of IFRS and technical accounting principles
