At Det-Tronics, our work has a clear purpose: advancing life safety technology to protect people, preserve assets and support reliable operations around the world.\nThe Opportunity\nThe Principal Electrical Engineer leads and manages hardware aspects of products throughout their entire lifecycle from architecture, planning, design through verification and validation. Provides electrical-design technical leadership for teams in cross-functional new product development and sustaining engineering projects. Hardware design development is for products based on different complex sensing technologies (e.g. Optical, Electrochemical) and communication technologies (wired and wireless).\nKey Responsibilities\nLead hardware strategic planning, concept generation, architecture definition and translation to system/subsystem/component definitions, with a focus on reliability, safety, and sustainability.\nProvide technical leadership to other electrical engineering and project team members. \nExpertise in electrical circuit design methodologies that meet high levels of EMC performance.\nDevelop and write sub-system engineering requirements and rationales that align with customer and system requirements and regulatory standards. \nWork closely with Embedded Firmware Engineers to develop and execute strategies for Hardware/Firmware integration and diagnostic coverage.\nDevelop & implement new or updated electronic designs that meet or exceed all customer, marketing, and regulatory requirements.\nAssess the impact of making changes to existing product electrical components, subcircuits, PCBs, and PCBAs. \nAuthor and lead through to implementation engineering change requests, and engineering & manufacturing change orders.\nComplete computer assisted design (CAD) modeling & simulation, risk analyses (e.g. DFMEA), subsystem requirements capture, schematic capture, board layouts and board mechanical fit analyses of designs.\nDevelop or support development of test cases and traceability from requirements.\nBuild and test designs from bench-level to formal verification and validation level using in-house test setups or at 3rd party test facilities.\nSupport product quality investigations and root cause analyses.\nFollow development processes, lead & document technical reviews, and properly document, test, and control work deliverables. \nProvide work breakdown plans and task estimates in support of project estimates and management. \nUse Agile methodology for hardware development with clear communication to project stakeholders with metrics to track and report progress.\nIdentify project risks and provide practical proposals to close gaps and mitigate risks. \nParticipate in roadmap and resource planning.\nSupport multiple product development programs at a given time.\nOther duties as assigned.\nWhat You Bring\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.\nAt least 10+ years of professional work experience.\nAt least 6+ years developing mixed signal PCBA designs.\nLed the hardware development of at least one product through market launch following a structured development process. \nMCU Experience.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nAdvanced degree preferred.\nAnalog circuit design experience strongly preferred. \nFPGA design experience.\nExpertise in electrical circuit design and layout implementation that meet high levels of EMC performance. \nEmbedded Systems design using MCUs/MPUs connecting to peripheral components providing sensing technologies, communication interfaces, and user interfaces (e.g. displays, snap domes, touchscreens, LEDs).\nExperience with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test of circuit assemblies.\nPlatformed product development experience.\nRegulated product experience (medical, automotive, Industrial Life Safety, SIL2).\nExperienced with FMEAs and developing control techniques to mitigate risks.\nExcellent team leadership, communication and organizational skills.\nSelf-motivated and demonstrated ability to lead process improvement activities.\nWhy Join Us?\nWork with a globally respected brand in life safety\nInfluence strategic decisions at the executive level\nDrive innovation and transformation in a high-growth environment\nEnjoy development opportunities within a dynamic, private equity-backed company\nBenefits:\nAt Det-Tronics, we believe in taking care of our people.
